In addition to not going to bars, nightclubs, etc, NFL athletes can't go to church now.

Those overpaid, crybaby, kneeling, murderous thugs are probably too busy beating their women, doing drugs and blaming the police and the white man for their problems to be going to church anyway, right?

As a stipulation of their employment with the NFL? Or some covid related issue? Or churches just won't have them? None of those reasons would really surprise me, honestly. For A LOT of NFL players. There are some good apples in the bunch, don't get me wrong

Well, the Bible is pretty clear on persecution for ALL who choose to lead a godly life. If my employer fined me for going to church I hope that I would be like Paul and call it a blessing when I faced trials of many kinds. "They will hate you because they hate Me" John 15:18

I guess I’d be a former NFL player if I was told that, or sue them for discrimination.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Seems it said they can't be in church services with over 25% capacity. They don't want any of their players taking risks that could affect the whole group. I'm not sure how many of them regularly attend church during the season anyway as games are played on Sunday. But the Christians in the NFL will still find time and ways to praise God.

I don't doubt that. However, there's no such thing as compromise when it comes to freedoms. It's just like any gun law. Encroaching at all on any freedom in any capacity no matter how minor it may seem is still as grab at your liberty altogether. The circumstances surrounding the issue are pretty irrelevant. Once any sort of freedom is restricted in ANY capacity, you've bastardized the integrity of your rights, and proven that you can erode fundamental freedoms altogether.

That being said, I am sure those that are true followers of Christ will still use their platform to advance the Kingdom. Those that truly have the seeds sown will spread the gospel, and those who don't will fall by the wayside, just like the seeds scattered on rocky soil.

I’m sure not going to bars and nightclubs was a lot harder to swallow than church for 99.9% of the players.

You can not paint all the players with the same brush. Faith has long played a major role in the NFL. About one-third of the players in America's three major professional team sports—football, baseball, and basketball—are born-again Christians, with the NFL having the highest percentage. Athletes in Action estimates that 35 to 40 percent of NFL players are evangelicals, compared to about 25 percent of Americans. Post-game interviews of players, post-game prayer huddles, testimonies in print publications and online and Hall of Fame acceptance speeches demonstrate that Christian faith is very significant in the culture of pro football. Many owners, coaches and league executives are delighted by the large numbers of Christians in the NFL ranks because they generally act morally, have strong marriages, are a positive influence on their teammates, are more active in community service and help the league deal with the negative impact of some players' deleterious off-the-field behaviors. Chapel services, Bible studies and religious instruction are "an inexpensive social service," maintains Curtis Eichelberger, author of Men of Sunday: How Faith Guides the Players, Coaches, and Wives of the NFL, that provide "counseling and therapy to keep players mentally and emotionally at the top of their game."

Here is one of several "good reads" about pro players faith.

I was being completely sarcastic. I signed it "out back" to start with, but I edited that out.

I agree completely that you can't put them all in the same basket but, several on here do.

Sorry missed the sarcastic. If information is correct I was surprised the see the 35-40% number of evangelical NFL players compared to only 25% of all Americans.

25 people, not 25% is what I read.

LOL.....I like watching the NFL turn into a complete dumpster fire. Couldn't happen to a better group.
