Anyone ever take a vacation trip down to Orange Beach or Gulf Shores in September or October? Was the water too cold to swim? Are all the restaurants still open? I know it should be less crowded. Any info would be appreciated.

That's when we like to go. Rates are lower and weather is better. Certain places on the beach the biting flies can be a booger and I have yet to find a spray that will discourage then from taking a chunk out of your ankles.

September and October is the best time to be at the beach. Just check and make sure that the beach you visit at that time isn’t experiencing red tide. Especially in the panhandle.

My crew is going in late Sept this year, we’ve always been summer beach trip folks. I’m looking forward to hopefully smaller crowds and *fingers crossed* cooler temps possibly.

That's the only time we go. Just be sure to NOT go when that goofy Shrimp Fest is scheduled
or you will have to fight the crowds.

With schools going virtual there will be families going later than usual this year, I'd guess. Just something to consider.

No Shrimp Fest this year...another casualty of CV19

First weekend in October is when we go to Pcola. We love it then. Water still warm enough to get in and temps around 80-85 deg. Good beer drinking weather.

Worst time of year to go to beach. Stay home in the cave cause aunt Kay said so.

Depends on which way the wind is blowing if the flies are on the beach. We have found bug repellent with a high (90%+) amount of deat keeps them off of you for a good while.

We have been going to the beach mid October for over 10 years and it is certainly our favorite time of year to go.

Best time to go. Do it nearly every year.
