This stupid Wu flu is going to ruin another trip we had planned this year. So now my wife and I are looking for other options. My wife mentioned Jackson Hole, anyone here have any experience with this place? Or any other place that's pretty in September and offers outdoor adventures (rafting, fishing, etc.)

I think CKyleC just got back from out there and I believe his review of JH was less than stellar......

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

My favorite place in the world! September is beautiful there! I hate to shop but those stores are so cool! Lots of great guides for horseback riding.

My wife and I were there last September. Had a great time, enjoyed great food, shops, and of course Grand Teton. I’d imagine they will have a major Covid-related impact on the place though.

Went there in June. This is my opinion and my bride to be’s opinion on the place. It’s a fun spot to stay about 2 days. We enjoyed it but it was overpriced for what it is. Tons of left coast liberals running around there during this season. It’s Gatlinburg of the west. I’d advise going to stay in Montana and go trek to the national parks from there. The food was average , the hotels were alright but not outstanding. If you can find a place around Ennis Montana, north west of Yellowstone, you’ll be in the best fishing/rafting you can dream of. I caught the biggest trout Ive ever even thought of on the Madison River. Even the “small” fish were above and beyond what we catch around the Blue Ridge. All depends on what you enjoy but Jackson Hole just wasn’t all that to us. If you have kids, that may change things. There is a good bit for the young ones there.

This will be just my wife and I. We are preparing for our Costa Rica trip to be cancelled. I'm wanting to go to islamorada, but she is wanting something different, and this place popped up. I thought I had read something on here recently with mixed reviews. I'll look into Montana maybe. Unless someone has another place entirely to recommend. We plan to spend 6 days I think including travel days. I think anything outside the 48 is not gonna be an option.

When I was headed out last year I stumbled across a dude ranch. Heart Six Ranch. I was just looking for place to eat but ended up staying there. They have all kinds of things to do there Float trips horseback riding. You could sty in a wagon, cabin, tee pee or a big lodge.

And freezing cold in the winter. Salt Creek has huge brown trout.

Jackson is fine but across the mountain Red Lodge, Montana is a much more conservative and less touristy town.

Victor and Swan Valley, ID are good places to stay outside of Jackson and still within driving distance.
West Yellowstone, MT is a great destination all by itself. It's not really within driving distance of Jackson but I think think you'll like it better than Jackson anyway.

Agree with red lodge, great place.

The Teton Valley in Idaho, about 45 min away is great. But if you are looking for man buns, microbrews and fusion cuisine, you are gonna be disappointed. 😂

Having said that, lots of money moving over to Victor and Driggs, so it's not a desert. Fishing is great on that side but not during the summer. Tons of pressure.

I probably shouldn't put this on the interwebs, but I'd go to either red lodge or gardiner, MT (north entrance to YS). Small towns, lots of outdoor access and scenery that will make you want to move.

Me and the fiancé are heading there September 10th. It’s my favorite place I’ve ever been to besides Alaska. I went there about 10 years ago and fell in love. If it’s anything like it used to be, you will not regret the trip

I prefer Gunnison, CO to Jackson Hole any day.

Quintessential mountain town. Even has an antler store. Lots less touristy than JH.
