Any of Ya ever spent any time with the T/C Encore Pro Hunter Katahdin in .500 S&W? If so what are Ya’s thoughts on it?I have been wanting one of these for awhile and finally got one. I am hoping the 500 S&W will be a little more manageable out of a rifle with a 20 inch barrel. I like that I can swap barrels if I want with the Encore and am thinking about getting the 28 inch slug barrel for it.

I had a S&W 500 with a ported 8" barrel. Killed a pile of hogs and deer with it. Shooting 350 grain XTP it wasn't any worse than my 44 Redhawks.
I would still have it, except for my eyes and my neuropathy getting worse, making it difficult to hunt with a pistol. I traded it for a nice rifle.

I have not shot it yet...From some of the videos I have watched most say recoil is about like shooting a 12 gauge shotgun. Not doubting their claims, but i just don't see recoil feeling like a 12 gauge in a rifle (might with that 700 grainer bs lol)

No doubting their claims, but i just don't see recoil feeling like a 12 gauge in a rifle (might with that 700 grainer bs lol) I had some 500 grain flat jackets and 700 grain cast lead for mine. The 700 grain was a mule. I believe the measured recoil was 64 ft lbs. It would hurt you with those, probably comparable to a 12 GA. But the my preferred hunting round was the 350 XTP and it wasn't bad at all.

And heck, i haven't shot my 500 in nearly 9 years 😯 Figured was time to order some ammo lol. But i shoot XTPs out of my 44s, and 357s also....

I wish that Marlin would come out with a lever gun in 500 S&W. I know that Big Horn Armory makes a lever action 500 S&W but they are really pricey. I got a 375 Win that I'll put up against that 500 all day long.
