What is the actual point in this? I'm a firm believer in what must be done eventually should be done immediately. After 9 weeks it will be cooler and they will say the virus is about to go crazy again.

I heard they did a survey and the vast majority of the people responded with things like the government is putting the economy above the safety of my child etc. Total bull open the schools and let kids be kids. Day cares are still open and have never closed.

Lots of daycare still closed. Many have been closed since March.
The state is putting them out of business. They're requiring twice the number of regular employees and limiting attendance to half
No business owner can afford that

Why not open the schools and let those that want to go, go, and the ones that don't, let them stay home.

I'll be shocked if any Alabama school ends up going back now that the dominoes are starting to fall. I hope they have a plan for the hunger, abuse, suicide, and rise in unemployment among two income households.

B/c the teachers and their unions are the ones pissing and moaning. It's pretty sad that the grocery store workers, wal-mart workers, home depot, etc are going to work doing their jobs everyday and the teachers who haven't had to do crap this whole time are complaining about going back to work with a bunch of kids. And yes, I'm sure a lot of you or your wives are teachers(my mom was) and are the exception to the rule.

Two things at play:

1. Teachers unions
2. Nearly 40% preferred staying virtual

The kicker, I think those parents are gonna chit when it’s real classroom work and not the everybody passed chit that we had in the spring.

Rumor is that mee maw is about to call for virtual for all schools for the 1st 9 weeks.

You're not wrong, sure there's people that are legitimately worried, there's people who are ready/willing to get back to school, then you have the ones that are being very VOCAL about not wanting to go back to school, because they're afraid they'll catch the virus, but they've been going to beaches, clubs, restaurants, stores, and their teenage children haven't been home but 2 weeks since March, but they're afraid they will catch the VIRUS at school! Yeah i knew few of them like that 🤦‍♂️

My wife is a teacher and she wants to be back in a classroom. Every teacher she works with that she has spoken to wants to be back in a classroom. I have several friends whose wives are teachers, every one of them wants to be back in a classroom.

My wife said parents in Alabaster, where she works, don't want the kids at home. They have told the school, they need to work and the kids need to be in school.

This is a democratic attempt to destroy our economy.

Jefferson County Health officer this morning on the radio said there is no reason for kids to not go back to school. He said there is almost no chance children under 10 are going to get or transmit the virus. The American Academy of Pediatrics says kids should be back in classrooms.

My wife said there is no way for her to effectively teach 5 year old children anything over the computer.
