If you or your loved ones live close to Cochran’s corner lock and load. There is an FBI standoff near the Cochran’s corner intersection. They are not 100% certain that the fugitive is in the house that they have surrounded so stay alert

The subject of the standoff shot himself when tear gas tossed in.
Here’s the report from mid-afternoon:
STANDOFF ENDS WITH GUNSHOT. A police standoff on Sand Mountain has ended with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, per assistant chief deputy Steve Guthrie. The sheriff’s office went to a residence on Hwy. 68 near Hwy. 75 to serve warrants. The man they sought barricaded himself in the attic of a garage. The FBI sent a negotiator to try to get the man to give himself up, Guthrie said. When negotiations broke down, tear gas was deployed. Guthrie said the man, identified at Christopher Johnston, then shot himself. He was taken to Marshall South and is expected to be transferred another trauma center. Virtually every police department in the county along with the FBI and U.S. Marshals assisted in the standoff. The SBI has been asked to handle the investigation.

So the guy shot and wounded himself ? I believe that’s right. I was told low abdomen, in and out. It sounded like perhaps multiple warrants. I know one was escape for walking off from work release, which law enforcement tends to frown on. Our S.O. has nothing to do with work release but they got to go round up the cats who walk off. I used a little aldeer gold when told low abdomen. I told a deputy friend, “Low abdomen? In and out? I’d have rubbed some dirt on it and walked it off.”

I don't know what the warrants were for but I was told that APD wasn't in the know because the FBI was handling it. That came from about as reliable a source as it gets.
