Guys - what is your favorite thing to plant in the fall for deer? I planted WMS blend last year and liked it. I was looking around at different blends and plot spike forage feast got great reviews and southern sweet spot - high sugar rye (different type of rye with more protein and digestability)with clovers sounded decent. Thought it may be better to ask you guys over reading an ad. May go back with WMS blend but just shopping - thanks

I dont do mixes but I like to have a field of kale, rape and daikon radishes, a field of oats or wheat, a field of clover, small field of chickory. Then ill broadcast corn in the oatfield every 4-5days. Thats what I did last year and I was covered up with deer. They eat the corn best of course, that keeps em coming. They do graze in all the rest of it too. The brasicas ars probably the #2 liked by the deer. I seldom see deer in the chickory but they keep it ate down, then the clover and grass last but theres always some deer in them at dark. I like to keep my deer a buffet going.

I usually use WMS Mississippi blend, and the wax seed company 5 way blend. Deer love them both

I have really liked the results I've gotten out of the WMS seeds Ive used. TriticaleOat, Alabama Blend, and Deer Magnet have all done really well for me in the past. Im sure you could put a very similar blend together buying seed separately from a coop but for simplicity and the fact that most of their blends come pre coated with delta ag I usually stick to them.
Have used the WAX 5 way as mentioned above with good results.

Much of the stuff will come back so there is no need to plant everything every year. I will alternate between wax 6 way (wheat, oats, rye, winter peas, crimson clover, rape) one year, the next year an simple wheat, oat grain mix with added brassicas.

I alternate blends because of brassica and disease. I love oats, wheat, rye, winter peas, arrowleaf clover, and crimson clover.

Our basic mix is 6000lbs of 17-17-17, 850lbs each of wheat, triticale, elbon rye, 75lbs each of crimson clover and purple top turnips. Blend it all together, dump it in a five ton buggy, set the gate at 4.5 and let her rip. Plants around 18 acres. If I'm lucky, I get a buggy with hydraulic engage so my fat ass never has to get out of the cab.

Cereal rye, daikon radish, wheat or oat, arrow leaf and crimson clover. The diakons don't get a whole lot of deer action but, they have really helped us on some bad soil plots to make them better and they will continue to grow thru the following spring and summer.

Wheat, oats, elbon rye, crimson and arrowleaf clover or some combination of those is usually what I go with. I’m slowly converting a lot of my fall plots to perennial clover now.

I add Biologic Deer Radish and Winter Bulbs & Sugar Beets to a bag of Biologic Full Draw, Green Patch Plus or Outfitters Blend as a base. It provides something for early, mid, and late season. My ultimate South Fall plot. One year I planted the local 4 way 5 way etc blends from the coop but if you read the ingredients and percentages they’re a ripoff. I’ve had my best food plot success with Biologic products. thumbup

I plant the WMS Miss blend and Ala blend and add BFO to each blend. We always have some pretty nice plots that the deer graze pretty heavily and they produce throughout the season.

In small plots I always make sure I have grain for sure. They have a will to live and deer browse won't kill it.
