Anyone tried them? I ordered and got one in and it will not find a network. I am taking it back to swap it for another to see if it works better. I will updated on Wednesday on how it works. My plan is to take what i need with me to Bass Pro and test it in the parking lot when i exchange the one i have. If it doesn't work, i am going to walk back in for a refund.

I don't have the new cell link but do have the micro link. Make sure you do a full format on your SD card. This takes about 30minutes. Also, check the version of firmware your unit has. If it's not the latest version, it may not work. The spypoint website has good instructions on this.

Definitely make sure you upgrade the firmware.

I used one last season and was satisfied with it. I did have to lower the antenna down to about a 45 degree angle to get a good signal.

since these are new on the market this year (just the cell unit that attaches to any camera), i would assume they came with up to date firmware. am i wrong on this? if i am, why would a brand new product not have the correct firmware when it starts shipping.

also, i cannot find a way to update the firmware, as it never connected to the site/app to see what version it had.

I have and am pretty happy with a Spypoint Micro. I'm thinking about getting a few of the links because I have several other non cell cameras and would really like to have a few more connected ones. That seems like an inexpensive route to get there. Let us know how it does when you get it swapped out. Also what other kind/brand of camera are you trying to connect it to?

It could have set on the shelf for 6 months. I've had mine less than a year and have updated firmware 3 times. By not finding netword, are you talking about the signal is low. I usually get 3 or 4 bars. Some places on my property I only get 1 bar and it will not transmit.

B/c they started manufacturing them longer ago than that and the firmware is how they fix software issues. You don't have to get it connected to the app first, just go to their site and download the new firmware to an SD card and follow the instructions - https://www.spypoint.com/en/support/universal-cellular-adapter/product-cell-link.html I can see right off the bat they say the latest firmware fixes some connectivity issues and it came out on 7/11/2020.

If you have a spypoint and you haven't ever updated your firmware, you should go do it.

Or not, don't listen to the people that you came on here asking for recommendations and feedback from...your choice.

My plan was to connect it to one of the many tasco's i have on hand. But, i have to get it to pickup service first.

I prefer the help, which is why i asked. this is my first attempt at cellular cams so to say i have no clue at what i am doing would be correct. i tried to find info, but being new to their system it would not easily accessible.

I will try this tonight and see if it works.

That's good to know. I think I'll go ahead and pick up one or two for starters.

I think I'd pay the extra $40 (on sale at Academy) and just buy the micro link. I've done a little research and there's a few things that are deal breakers on the cell link. 1. I can't get a straight answer on if it will work on my -Browings, 2. Double batteries one set for camera and another for cell link, 3. The wire will be exposed and chewed up by varmants, 3. the most important, you can't change the settings from the app on your phone.
