I finally started getting my bills in from my chemo treatments and I was astonished. When I signed up for Medicare I bought the best supplemental I
could figure out from United Healthcare and damn I'm glad I did. Every two weeks I go in for a new chemo IV that last about 50 hours and the cost
each time is about $25,000. My bill thus far is about $250,000 including surgery, Ct , doctors and other stuff, good news is that the insurance has
paid 100% of my charges.
When I was 5 years old I had my tonsils out and that was the last time I was in the hospital (I'm 68), so I guess I am catching up.

Great news that your insurance is paying it. The LAST thing you should be worried about right now are the bills.

Comprehensive Cancer Centers are cash cows for hospitals.

Socialized medicine isn't the answer and I get that medicine is expensive but it's scary knowing in the back of your head that a diagnosis could have a 7 figure number associated to it.

My old roommate was diagnosed with cancer a few years back and the bills are scary. Treatment was successful but numbers are scary regardless.

Charges or prices after adjustments? Two different things.

That's part of the problem with our healthcare system (other than the strangulation of all the regs). There is no treatment that's worth 250k even if treated for a year.

If marijuana is a option for your treatment be glad to help ya out for free. I don’t care about these judging azz folks on here. If you decide to try that route PM me. Same with me. Haven’t been to the doctor in years... but maybe when my fiancé graduates and gets her job I’ll get on her insurance. Until then it’s tuff luck. Lol

My boss is a pharmacist, he owned his owned store for 42 years, so he’d hook me up over the years with antibiotics and such far as the sniffles and stuff.

Dads immunotherapy for 2 treatments was billed at $105,000 which included 5 Dr visits.

They charge $250k so that Medicare will pay them $2000 and they write the rest off as a loss

I feel you. I start radiation Monday chemo was supposed to start with it but they are having to delay it because of the wound vac. I’d hate to even imagine where I’m at total now with insurance. I think mine had a 6 grand total deductible on it. I know when I had the cat scan or what ever it was they called and told me like BCBS was paying 80 percent and told me what I would have to pay but I secondary insurance that covered it. It took about an hour and all they did was inject me with radioactive sugar. But after they told me my amount I figured it to be around 10 grand. And these other two hospital stays and getting my tonsils removed I wouldn’t be scared to say it’s already over 150 grand. And BCBS probably won’t pay 15. The doctors and hospitals have to inflate the prices and hope to get a small percentage from the insurance companies. I was talking to my pharmacist today and she was telling me how they are squeezing them now. She said on some products now what she is getting isn’t enough to cover her overhead.

I am not trying to be ugly - just educational. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this and so glad you're covered. I hope you stay covered and beat this horrid thing.

Uh ha. And a few other ailments as well.
