One of my good neighbors that was about 82 years old died this morning, supposidly of Covid. He was in a nursing home and had been in there
for several years. They said Covid, but I think he just died.

From what I've read if they can or will add covid on the death certificate they get an additional $13k from Medicaid. $36k extra if someone is placed on a ventilator and they can say due to covid. And sorry for the loss of your neighbor to both you and his family.

The only thing covid has done for elderly people is keep most family members( that want to be there) from being present in the final hours. Same with births.

It be's that way sometimes.

Something like 80 percent of all Covid deaths have been people age 65 and over, and has really tough on nursing homes.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

Yep, and guaranteed them no proper funeral.

Well it did end their life early so there is that.

Many of those that died with it would still be here if not for contracting the virus. The ones we know that died with it, died prematurely even if they had pre existing conditions.

For many it was nothing more than a slight fever and cough if that.

And for the majority it has been one major cluster.

Nobody is arguing it didnt push them over the edge much like 100 other illnesses would have. But this hasnt been handled like 100 other illnesses has it. I know of several people myself who have lost parents(not covid related) and didnt get to see them much at all the last couple months of their lives. And no real funeral either. One good friend sat in the parking deck at the hospital for two weeks because they wouldnt let him in. Thats just wrong.

You realize my dad died all by himself at the hospital. I talked with doc a lot since he was so impressed about his age and cognitive abilities of someone 20 years old.
The doc called me and said his test is negative and going on the regular floor. I was on a burn going late that night and doc said the hospital would let me in no matter what time. My sis went and they wouldn’t let her in. We were called the next morning at 430 and let me and the wife in. Dad died all alone at a hospital where I promised him I wouldn’t let him die. His funeral was pics sent to us and we went after he was in the ground. Since no more than 10 could be there.

He was a coach and extremely respected by his ballers. A well respected administrator at NWSCC. He had two friends from the college come by our house the day of the funeral. Covid
I did have several guys he coached contact me.

My wife has had friends and colleagues die from it. She deals directly at work with Covid issues on a daily basis. She reports daily on numbers they gather. She has insight I can’t share. It is bad. It’s no where near the end of the world like anti trumpers want it to be.

I have friends that have had to shutter their business and refinancing to stay a float. Thank goodness their homes “were” paid for.

I’ve seen the whole gamut personally.

I can’t imagine how I’d be reacting if I was still in business or if dad was still alive and I was helping as I have the past 5 years.

Heck I have a niece that worked at the hospital where the first patient walked in with it. 4 days later walked out. Said it was strange watching him playing games on his cell phone while the nurses and doctors were suited up for Mars.
