I recently had a good buddy (A Yellow Lab) die on me. I was down with a torn Miniscus in my right knee so my son-in-law and my daughter volunteered to bury him for me. He had been buried a little shallower than I would have done it but hey, I wasn't going to complain. The last couple of days I had noticed our neighbors dogs out by where he was buried. This morning as I was mowing I noticed that they had dug up my dog and had eaten part of him. Before I had gotten the mower put up I actually ran one of the dogs out of the hole. When I talked to the man that owns the dogs he said that they had done the same with an old dog of his that died. Is this normal? I've never seen it before. His dogs look a little slim but a lot of dogs look slender in the summer so I don't think he's starving them or anything.

I get the feeling that the neighborhood may be short a few more dogs soon.

A hungry dog will eat anything. ANYTHING.

I’m sorry you had to deal with that.

When my doberman died, she was in a pen with our husky and part of the side of her face had been eaten, which freaked me out a little bit. DoA was on his way home from work when I went out there and saw her so he got to listen to me squawl about it when I called him. I had been hunting behind the house and BamBam texted me and told me that she had died, but did not tell me the other part. We both wondered if it had started with him just licking her trying to get her to get up or if she had an abscess that had opened that we did not know about. The husky was not aggressive toward other dogs or people, either.

Wow,.. I've heard that cats will eat thier owners when there is nothing else to eat,.. but dogs always stay with thier Masters and starve to death protecting them.
I don't know I'm not dead yet. I buried my setter a few months ago, and I didn't want to eat her,. Just cried a little and wished her with me,...

They're animals. Yes, normal. I wouldn't worry about it.

I saw a pit bull eat a cat. Killed it then ate it. And the dog was my buddies family pet for 15yrs. Fat old dog. Not starved at all.

I always put them in a pillow case, and then a garbage bag. Never had a problem
