And no, I don't want to eat the book.

What I do want is to purchase a good guide book for edible wild plants of the southeast US. I looked on Amazon and all of the books I found are either very general as far as location (as in continent wide or world wide) or they have poor reviews. One of the common complaints is that plant identity is based on a drawing instead of a photograph. Others said that the descriptions were vague enough that it was hard to confirm identity. One book even had photos and descriptions mismatched. Since there are a few plants that are poisonous and look very similar to edible plants, I'd rather not chance a mistake.

So, any of you have any recommendations? I know there are Biologists, I think Botonists, Survivalist and Preppers on here so I believe I'm asking the right bunch of fellows.

Dang it, I was gonna say you shouldn't eat books. I think my wife has one. I'll check tomorrow....

Their are no good books on the topic, There are a lot of books out there that could get you killed. You really need to be properly trained like the mushroom people do it. Eat one wrong thing and you will be looking for a new liver or kidney.

Well, dangit. I thought a book would be easier to pick up than a second hand kidney.

Didn’t Foxfire books cover some of that?

I had actually forgotten about those. Didn't they teach all kinds of appalachian/country/primitive living stuff? I may have to check those out.
