They just haven't gotten round to high art, yet...still working on statues...who knew the ef'n things would be so tough to tear down?!
...on the other hand, they're sweeping up everything said 40 and 50 years ago now, even The Duke has come under attack, so Mel and Blazing Saddles may find themselves before the judge of public opinion and past scrutiny soon!

The thing about Blazing Saddles, and sevral other things by Mel Brooks and Norman Lear (on TV), is they literally were made to show the racism, bigotry and hatred that exists, and how to counteract or deal with it.
But, like with some of the statues, the woke crowd won't care. They'll just decide to destroy or remove and go on to the next thing.

The movie may say Mel Brooks, but some was written by Richard Pryor. The movie was written to have Richard Pryor in the sheriff's role, but Richard had prior commitments when production began on Blazing Saddles and couldn't do the role.

The movie may say Mel Brooks, but some was written by Richard Pryor. From interviews I’ve seen with Brooks, he said Richard Pryor ask for be part of it and told him, if I’m one of the writers, no one will ever say anything about using the N word. Brooks said Pryor wrote a lot of the film.

I understand Brooks was given high praise by making blazing saddles from several Jewish human rights associations. He was also married to Anne Bancroft the serious actress.
