A friend/supplier of ours is a huge Tennessee football fan. He is a season ticket holder. He calls to talk sometimes when he needs to vent or be humbled. He called irate this morning. It seems the vols are wearing either black jersey's or black uniforms against Kentucky this coming season as a tribute to the Bureau of Land Management. He was so mad he was crying. Have you Sports Forum junkies heard anything about this?

I don't care what he does. Tickets are already bought. He calls here every year to tell us this is the year, then disappears until New Years after taking his whoopin. Our talk here is you've got to figure Saban and Gus will have to act similarly if it starts to affect recruiting. Its hard to imagine those two stadiums at less than full capacity on game day.

Attending a game or going for the weekend is an expensive hassle anyway. Easier and cheaper to stay home, watch on TV or ignore it and go hunting.

I'm done with all sports period.....screw them all. To support an organization that that wants to defund the police is absolutely ridiculous. Fishing, hunting, hiking, working around the house on with other hobbies is more enjoyable anyways. They just keep making it easier and easier to walk away

Listened to Paul Finebaum for about 15 minutes today driving back from TN and it was nothing but coronavirus scare porn the entire time. I'm kinda hoping we don't have a season at this point just to let these players and media see how little power they truly have

They have pretty much priced the Average Joe out of attending games. I mean, to go to a Bama game against even a mid-tier SEC school like Ole Miss or South Carolina, you're going to pay at least $100/ticket in most cases. So for the average family of 4....$400 just in tickets. Let's assume each person wants a coke and a hotdog during the game....$10/head. $440. God forbid you have to travel in and stay in a hotel...at minimum you might find a decent one an our out of town and pay $150/night. Let's assume you're far enough out that you don't have a 3-night minimum stay like you'd have in town and you're still at $590. You're most likely going to have to pay to park, which will be between $20-50 depending on how close you are...we'll average it at $30, conservatively....$620.

you're at $600+ just to take your family to a single college football game, and that's assuming you don't buy any souvenirs or anything. And if you're talking about the Iron Bowl, LSU or UGA games, you can double that at minimum.

Yep. The last couple of years with our kids at AU we'd go down for a weekend visit 2-3 times a year to see them. They had student tickets, and unless we got some for free or cheap we would just tailgate and watch on TV.

Hotels in Auburn now require two-night minimums at $250 a night or up. Restaurants are packed, there is no parking down there and it's a flustercluck. I love the college atmosphere and have been to almost all the SEC venues. My first game was 40+ years ago - Vandy-Ole Miss at Dudley Field. Tickets were $8 and that's no joke. I still have the stub.

Now, similar to trying to hunt deer on a state WMA, it's just not fun anymore.

I love UA and Bama Football as much as anyone.....but they have just about ruined the "gameday experience" unless you happen to live on campus.

We have a kid at AU and we pull our camper. A camper site is $150 per night. Crazy.

It's not just football that runs the price up on everything...my daughter started UA last fall. We went up in July for orientation and had a nice room 5 minutes or so from campus and it was about $100/night. When we found out her move in date, I tried to get a room at the same place we stayed for her orientation...hardly any rooms to be had and the hotels that did have rooms were pretty much double the price that they were just a few weeks prior. The same room we rented for her move in date was $275. We wound up staying in Eutaw at the Travel Inn and it was $125/night. Price right now is $69
