I have a 55 gallon boomless sprayer that has a single nozzle at the backside middle of the tank. It sprays maybe a foot or two either side of the tractor tires. I'd like to try and get a wider swath coverage out of it, so I was thinking about plumbing the line so it's up above the tank and put 2 nozzles in. My pump is a 12v 2.2gpm pump which I really like and have had no issues with, we chose the 12v so we didn't have to have the tractor going if we wanted to use the spray wand.

So I was looking at getting these nozzles - https://www.sprayersupplies.com/xt-hypro-a4034638

And was going to use this to split the line off into the 2 separate nozzles - https://www.sprayersupplies.com/9950-0033-hypro-a5304522

My question is - since my pump is 2.2gpm and I'm splitting the single line feeding the nozzles, which gpm nozzles should I go with? Or is there a better config to do?

Your pump isn’t going to work well for two of those nozzles, even in the lowest GPM type. Based on the chart the minimum is .9 gpm which puts out 8.9 gallons per acre at 4 mph. With two, that’s 1.8 gpm and 17.8 gallons per acre at 4 mph.

If you’re dead set on those, I think you need a different pump and a larger tank.

i guess the first thing is to measure the psi generated by your pump. i have the same type setup and have never measured it, but have also been wondering how to make it wider. Let me know what you find out please sir.

It is what it is.

The pump is 70 psi max, whatever that means. I don't think it has an adjustment, but maybe it does.

Cynical - a new sprayer is an option, but figured if I could make this one work, I'd give it a shot.

Why on earth would you put a 12v pump on a three point sprayer????
I've got that very same sprayer with a pto pump. Mine will spray 50 feet with well over 100 psi. Also has a pressure regulator where I can increase it significantly if need be.

B/c I can run the sprayer w/out having the tractor running. Or I can put the sprayer in the back of the truck or a trailer and use it. This is my current setup - https://www.northerntool.com/shop/t...cm_mmc=Housefile-_-RECEIVED-_-707-_-CONF

I've got a 25 gallon sprayer on my 4wheeler for that option. Also have a spraygun on my pto sprayer.
But to address your original problem, I did upgrade my ATV sprayer to a 3.5 gpm pump.
That was a major improvement and I was able to increase the nozzle size. I didn't particularly want a wider coverage but I need better coverage.
The 3.5 pump did that job nicely.

Also, I think you should stay with the single boomless nozzle until you upgrade your pump.
From my experience those boomless nozzles are far superior to the multiple boom nozzles.
You just need to give them enough pressure and flow.

I'm still wanting to stick with the boomless nozzles, just go with 2 of them to get wider coverage, but yeah, I was worried about the pump being able to push decent enough gpm thru 2 nozzles being fed from a single line. Maybe just raising my single existing nozzle up above the tank so that it's spraying from higher up would be the best thing to do. Guess there is only one way to find out what will work...

If you need a bigger 12volt pump, let me know. We have them on the shelf that go up to 5.5 gpm. If I ever sell anything we have due to a post of mine on here, I'll send my 3% whether I list it in the classifieds or not.

Thanks, will keep that in mind sometime before I end up pulling all of my hair out. Also, PM sent with a question.

i have thought about adding 2 nozzles just to see how it would do. my concern was its not pushing out fast to start with, so i am worried it would lower the overall psi making it drip more than spray.

I have used Hamilton Nozzles and got good coverage with it mounted up a little higher. If you look at all the Hamilton options there are several... and you can you can configure to best match your existing pump flow and they give a reasonably accurate estimate of the coverage swath.

I like a boom myself I can't tell you many situations I would prefer boomless but there are a select few.

I plumbed mine where it sprays back instead of down to get the widest swath possible. Only problem is it sprays a u shape where you stop if that matters to you.

May just need a different nozzle. My nozzle sprays about 20' wide with a 2.2 GPM pump and gets great coverage. I have it where I can point it to spray straight back or rotate it so it is spraying more downward (helps in windy situations).

I like it! That's a fine example of redneck engineering. 👍
