I searched and read the old posts. I'm battling this stuff in a couple of places. Old threads didn't quite answer all my questions, so trying here.

First - horse nettle - sounds like grazon next hl is the way to go, but my question is - what will it do to fall planting? it say grasses are fine (wheat, etc.), but what about clover? Also, I'm a little worried about overspray near trees. Will this stuff kill trees if you get it in their drip line? An alternative, I guess would be to mix it up in a backpack sprayer and spot spray? But, I'd again have the same question. And yes, I have read the label, but it's not crystal clear either. Best time to apply it?

Sicklepod - sounds to me like if you catch it in it's small stage, glyphosate will kill it? or if you mow and spray gly, it will kill it? is that right? Or just use the grazon?

Gly will kill sicklepod. Problem with sicklepod is that it doesn't appear until June, after you've already planted in may. I hand pulled a bunch in my younger days.

Is this for your food plots?

Depending on what trees you have adjacent to the area, I don’t think you will have a problem with tree injury. Pines can be a little more sensitive, but you have to get a lot in the root zone to see any. Shouldn’t be a problem for hardwoods.

Seeding fall cereals can be tricky, as the residual left depends on rainfall, temps, soil type, etc. My personal feeling is you would be ok, particularly if you disc it first. Clover probably won’t work. Legumes are fairly sensitive to aminopyralid and I don’t believe you will get a stand this fall.

It has been 20 years since I did row crop work, and there are a lot of new products since then. Sencor and Classic were a couple products we used most back then.

257 may be along shortly and have some good recommendations.

I’ve gone back to using sencor behind most of my bean acres 007. That’s a very effective pre in soybeans.

We pulled sicklepod for about a hr today but it’s not gonna take over

Ive got it(sicklepod) in one patch of my watermelons. Not sure what to about it except to plow rows and disk middles. I know when I get them laid by the next good rain will bring them on again. I just hope the watermelons can compete with them after that.

What crop are you trying to protect while in the process of spraying the sicklepod?

At this point, I am not trying to protect anything except a fall planting. i tried a summer throw and mow plot, which was a failure, so I'm just trying to keep the invasive weeds out so I can replant next summer. I don't think I am going to try another summer plot.

You can buy a pint of Milestone and it will take care of the sicklepod and also should kill the horsenettle. It has little residual and very effective at killing broadleaf. Everything I have ever sprayed Milestone on that was broadleaf was killed. I have killed a lot of sicklepod/coffeweed with milestone.

I normally mix 4 oz per 25 gallon of water in my ATV sprayer. A pint will go a long way if used properly.

You can use 2-4D which is much cheaper but it will have some residual.

how is milestone if you plant in the fall behind it? that is, how long is the residual? NVM. since, I posted that I contacted the folks in the link you provided. They said plant back is 18-24 months. Strong stuff!!!

I use the Milestone in my chufa plots and never plant a fall crop in those areas. I did not read it had that long of a residual so I learned something. You can check out IMOX as it might work for you and it states it has a low residual in the description. I have only used it in a spot spray application but it was not on sicklepod or horsenettle,
