Trying to help my BIL. He has a 2010 JD 5045D with 491 hours on it. Well taken care of and in good shape. Has a top on the ROPS. Pretty basic tractor. How much y’all think it’s worth?

I sold a 2011 5065e 2wd, with a fel and 960hrs for 13,500 about 6 months ago. I started at 15,500 and it took almost 3 months to sell.

Pull up Tractorhouse.com and take a look at the ones for auction. Most are around 13-15 thousand with 4wd and a FEL. Selling a used tractor is sometimes a tough go unless they have a loader and a few pieces of equipment with it. The implements are pricey and the total package can end up out of sight on cost for a buyer. Brand new 30-50 hp tractors are selling very good now and there are options for a buyer to choose that are very appealing-Tractor, trailer to haul it on, FEL, bush hog, and grader box all for a good price with financing from every major dealer .

Hard to put a price on it, but a basic tractor with nothing added may be a hard sell. To me, a 2wd 45 hp tractor would only be used to bush hog with. I want more options.

Most folks also want the 4wd on everything they buy now. This is going to hurt you on price. Personally, we will not buy another tractor that does not have a loader and is 4wd. The loader and the 4wd make a world of difference when it comes to useage and especially if you ever want to sell it. Hope this helps.

A tractor without a loader has to be pretty close to the same as having hands with no thumbs

Everyone seems to want a 4wd and dealer financing makes it hard to sell a 2wd tractor used. Especially one worth enough to require some financing. A lot of the people that called about mine said they would just buy from a a dealer since it was easier to borrow the money.
