12 flood gates open Saturday

It was roaring Saturday when I drove by it.

Predicted to run in the 80's all day today. Dropping into the upper 50's by Friday. Saturday was something else when I boated up there.

7 gates open this evening

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I went out Saturday morning, caught half dozen bluegill and headed to my flathead honey hole. Within 10 minutes I had this one that weighed 14 lbs 12 oz. Stayed for another 1 1/2 hours and did not get another bite. This is the second time I have fished there and hooked up within 10 minutes. Then failed to catch another fish. Current was still strong so that eliminates a lot of other spots I want to try.

Nice Flathead TN. There has been some monsters pulled out of that same hole over the years.
My son and were up there this last Saturday afternoon from about 4 until dark. The turbines were wide open, 5 floodgates were open and the water is warming up so we weren't expecting much. We didn't catch any cats maybe partly because we were not fishing for them, but we managed 2 fair Stripers (7-9lbs) and a decent Hybrid (5-6lbs) up near the dam. Under those same conditions sometimes you can load the boat with good eating sized blue cats (2-6lbs) in front of the flood gates. Just don't get too near them. You can actually be pulled in towards them by a back current. That'd be the wrong time for engine trouble.

When people want to catch fish to take home, we drift below the dam to just past the high line wires. Only use cut chicken breast as bait. I have had to quit fishing because my live well was completely full. The first time I took my previous boat to G Dam I learned about that back current. I slammed the nose of my boat into one of the tunnel walls. My goal is to switch over to targeting the big boys and girls. Once the spawn is over, the blues will start to lay down in the deeper holes. I want one that exceeds my 50 lb scale.
