Is this like the turkey hunting joke we have going here where some of the south AL hunters always tell newbies to go hunt in Jackson county? Except you guys are trying to keep new fishermen away from Huntersville? If so, it has worked on me. No way am I going up there after reading all this. I have out of the way ramps on Lay and Martin and seldom have to wait on anyone.

We been tryin to finish the ramp below the river bridge and it has been tough gettin vehicles and equipment in and out there have been so many folks lately....some folks gettin a little testy with us and a few of the "pros" have gotten kinda ugly...i get it tho...it is a good place to put in...if anybody on here happens to put in there just know this...we are trying to get done as quick as we can, an i think that the public will love this ramp. Be patient with us and you will have twice the parking with some really nice amenities and features...gonna be really nice with a buddy pickup pier an some shiny new asphalt. Be nice please...and use common sense when parking your truck and trailer...everybody has to get around in there...not just us.

CarbonClimber1, the slope of that ramp is different from any ramp on Guntersville that I've used. All the others I can load with the fenders of my trailer an inch out of the water. On the ramp where you're working I have to submerge the fenders about 4 inches. If I don't, the very point of the bow runs up way too low against the winch post, maybe even under the rubber V stop.. Strange slope there for whatever reason, at least for my setup.
And a question....Who is paying for that project?
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Mayor has said previously that TVA and Ala. DCNR were paying. City is providing the “in-kind work” in the form of their highly skilled, do anything public works squad.

This is correct, we have been dealing directly with the tva for the most part. Wiley, ive heard people say that..i haven't put in here but a few times and i can tell you that the bottom lays funny in this particular area. We wanted to put in an extra ramp on the other end of the newest portion we are working on, but the water depth simply wouldn't allow it. As of right now, i believe they are still going to replace the old ramp....i have no idea if it will be any different dimension wise than it is now...but new concrete is supposed to happen. This place has potential to be very nice..as long as math heads dont trash it.

Its crowded on the banks below Guntersville Dam. I've seen it go downhill bigtime over the years. Its like a 24/7 commercial fishing operation down there. They don't cull ANYTHING. They even keep baby yellow bass and baby drum. I'm dead serious when I say nothing gets culled. Catch and release isn't even a thought down there. It gets harder to catch a stripe down there every year, or any fish for that matter. When I was a kid you could catch piles of stripe down there. Now its tough. And I'm not talking about the white bass that all the locals call a stripe. I'm talking Hybrid and sea run stripe bass. Its getting crazy down there. Saw this Sunday.

CarbonClimber are y’all putting in more ramps and parking, or just parking?

CarbonClimber are y’all putting in more ramps and parking, or just parking? Parking as far as i know, we were gonna add another ramp at the end of the new parking lot but the water wasn't deep enough. We are...once again.."so im told" going to replace the existing one with something, at the very least...similar to what is already there. There has been quiet a bit of discussion on things to come...they are good...but i dont want to say because nothing is set in stone. Originally, i think they talked about doing some widening of the existing ramp area and making it capable of accomidating two boats at a time, but i havent heard much else about it. We are for sure gonna put in a buddy pick up pier on out at the other end of the new parking lot that way if you have a buddy, he can go park the truck and walk out there and you can go pick him up without walking all the way back around....some walking will be inevitable,but...there will be a ton more parking there and hopefully it will speed up the put in process for everybody and hopefully do away with some of the congestion. I think we are gonna do some more beautification and cleaning up...maybe...im not real sure. I am ultimately....a poop shoveler....low man...mushroom.😁 i do however take pride in what i do and would like to be a good steward of the city for you and the rest of the public. If you have anymore questions, id be more than happy to answer what i can.🙂

We went out last night and it was dang nice. I guess the threat of rain had a lot of the yahoo’s inside. Wind was horrible at first stop. Beat us up. We crossed the lake to get behind a hill and it was slick calm. The wife striped my tail on the bluegills. She was sidearm casting and sliding that rig under edge of boathouses. I didn’t know she could cast like that. I told her we’d have to go back with trick worms for bass when it warms up. She said, “What’s a trick worm?” My bass friends tell me the lake is fishing kind of funny. It’s not the normal postspawn fish gobbling everything deal. It’s fishing kind of tough.
Oh, and CarbonClimber is a working machine. I’ve seen him in action. If I was a general contractor and I needed a lead guy, I’d talk to him. He don’t let grass grow under him.

If they do all that work on that parking lot and don’t widen the ramp to take at least 2 boats, preferably 3 at a time, that’s gonna be a lot of money spent for nothing. If they had a nice 3 lane ramp there it would sure be nice.

That is my least favorite ramp on the lake due to how shallow the incline is, but it's all you got for the "bend" area of the lake.
