Taking a beach trip at the end of June I’m the only one in the group interested in taking a fishing trip. Was wondering if any of y’all had any experience with the party boats and had any recommendations?

You’ll spend more time hung and tangled up with other people than you will fishing.

Maybe so. But i don’t think I would be able to go solo on a smaller charter boat

It has been several years but I took my boys & a friend on one. My youngest got sea sick after wetting his line twice. We spent the next 2 hours up on the top deck with him sleeping in my lap.
The kicker is I had a cooler full of beer and Gatorade in the bottom of the boat and could not get to it. My oldest and his friend wore them out. I was so wore out from just sitting there sweating
As soon as we stepped off the boat and they got their picture taken, I asked ok, Who wants these fish?
Gave them away and could not get back to the condo fast enough. Hope you have a better experience.

Lots of boats take single walk ons. I'm pretty sure some of the boat captains on here could help you out.

Check out Hudson Marina in Orange beach. Went 6 hour on The Wishbone last July for less than $200 all in. Had a good trip carried cold beer and Gatorade, I caught three peoples limit of snapper +
Pretty good way to go when you are the only person who wants to go.

I have a buddy who goes out on party boats pretty often and does well. If possible try to catch some live bait before you go and take them on with you. A bucket of pin fish is worth a lot on one of those boats.

I was going to say.... if you are going to Destin I bet you can walk on. I've seen people do that. If you go down to the Marina when you get down there and tell them what you want to do and how long you are staying I bet they can get you a ride... that isn't a party boat..

You can do a walk on at Zeke's. Whole lot better that a head boat.

What top cat said. Just call Zeke's marina a day or 2 ahead of time and ask them if they are putting together any walk-ons the day you are going to be there. That's the best way to go if you don't have enough people for a full charter. Same boats, same fish.

Call ahead and let them know you're looking for a group that needs a +1. Kinda like calling the clubhouse at a golf course and having them put you with a group looking for a fourth. You'll most likely get placed on what they call a 6-pack trip (6 fishermen) and you'll be put on better spots, fish with better gear, catch way more fish, and have way more enjoyment than you would on a "party boat".

You may be will a dozen or more but I've never had a bad trip. Actually fished with some of the same folks a couple times. Carry a cooler with water, Gatorade and some snacks and beer if you wish. A 6 hour trip will cost you under $200 including deckhand tips.

Will probably try to do a walk on at Zekes. What’s the average price for a walk on trip?

You can't do much else at the beach for 6 hours that cheap. Sit on the beach maybe.

You are correct. Sitting on the beach is the only other thing I plan to do, that and go eat at Docs a couple of times.

Snapper will most likely be the target fish. Probably troll on the way out and back in.
