I think all non revenue earning sports will be canceled for a few years. That also could be small college football programs and we may only have power 5 conferences playing an 8 game schedule. If they can't put people in the stands they can't afford to play. That is kinda what I am afraid is going to happen as well.

Will there be collegiate sports next year?
My stepson is a senior in high school, heading to Kennesaw State (north of Atlanta) to throw (discus/hammer) for track. They have a great facility.
College you get 5yrs to compete Clock starts when you start full time classes (12hrs/semester) Senior in college that didn't get to compete this year are allowed to come back next year.
Would you consider having him get a part time job and go to the local community college 9hr/semester, next year. Then the following year start full time at the Kennesaw? Save his eligibility, he would be a year older and more mature when he starts (sports & in general).
I'd just pay his tuition at the school where he wants to go. Whether that involves him getting a job or loans depends on y'alls situation. I have family that work in the community college network, and the whole "get your 2 year degree, and then transfer for a 4 year degree" is a statistical fantasy. I know it happens, but it's highly unlikely.

Florida Tech Panthers a D2 school eliminated their football program today but said they would honor the scholarship that are already on the books. That’s complete BS about the “statistical fantasy” of 2yr to 4yr. The ones that don’t succeed were not gonna succeed start out at at 4yr college.

I know it happens, but it's highly unlikely. I completely disagree. I know a BUNCH of non football athletes who started in JUCO and went on to a “major” university to finish. Myself included. It’s the most cost effective way to get a 4 year degree.

Unfortunately, there are going to be a lot of sports where HS seniors will not be getting the scholarships they thought they were. Baseball is a good example. You can only have so many players on the roster and because everyone is getting an automatic extra year, there will not be room for all the upcoming high schoolers. Those scholarships and roster spots that would have normally been vacated by graduating seniors or players finishing their eligibility this spring will not be available. As far as the spring sports go, I’m betting that only the very top caliber HS athletes will be offered any type of scholarship going into the fall. Tough situation for a lot of kids.

Sounds like y’all were the ones who acted right, and got your work done.
