Tua was a great quarterback until it mattered then he choked. He bailed them out in one big game and flopped in every other big game. He was bad injury prone too. I am a bama fan and glad he’s gone. He wasn’t the one man show they wanted him to be. I think they’ll play as more of a team now without him. Give me a mccarron or McElroy type quarterback over tua any day. Then run the ball. When bama does that they win. I agree 100%

I'm just glad the camera's wont be panning to the tungovagina's during bammer games anymore. Don't think mr tungovagina ever smiled.

He was too worried about his $$$ being out on that field, to be able to smile and watch his son play. Injuries could have costed him and his family their planned retirement and almost did. By the way, I posted back when he was a Jr in HS that Tulia would never be the starter at Bama and he would not have competed for it this year. Mac, Bryce, then he and Tyson would have battled for the 3 spot and most likely Tyson would have won it.

Is Tyson even a legitimate contender for the job? I figured he was #3 on the depth chart, even after this transfer.

Nope Tyson is a solid #3 behind Mac and now Bryce and right where he has always been. Truth be told, the actual depth chart last year was probably Tua, Mac, Tyson, then Taulia. Taulia got to play in those 5 games last year, not because he'd earned the opportunity to play some in garbage time, but because Saban was working the family, trying to convice them that Taulia had a legit chance to come in right behind Tua, in order to try to get Tua to stay for his senior year (prior to the big hip injury). Tyson redshirted last year just like Taulia would've done if he was a legitimate prospect to ever start at a later date. Saban just burned a year of eligibility on him in a calculated move, that due to Tua's injury, the results never materialized. Taulia leaving is not even remotely a concern to Saban. College football is a big business and just as political as any other business, so what you see, is not always what it appears to be. He was never going to play at Bama.
IMO the job currently is Mac's to lose. If Mac is the starter this year, then the following year, Bryce and Tyson would be the two battling things out and most likely, Tyson would lose and move to the #2 spot at that time.

I realize he only had a few games, but I was pretty impressed with Jones last season. Given the circumstances he looked fairly composed, made intelligent decisions and has pretty good athleticism.
As I told our son the other day, Saban isn't going to have a No. 2 who is a schmutz. The guy has to step in on a moment's notice, just as Jones did, and keep the train going. While that wasn't how Jones probably wanted to become the starter it showed that he was capable and did the job.
Plus, again while being a sucky situation, it gave Jones some good experience going into this year.

That was a poorly thrown pass, for sure, and a heads-up play by the DB. Big games like that, you gotta have a little luck to help out.
Take away that play and the trick punt-qb silliness, and Alabama probably wins. Jones is cemented as a legend and they go into the off-season with a ton more confidence. As much as I enjoyed the win, the playground trick stuff is kinda juvenile. Line up and play ball.
Of course, I wish everyone still ran a straight 5-2 defense and the Houston veer but that's just me. LOL

Mac Jones threw 13 TD in 4 starts. He did more against Auburn's defense than anybody else did all year. Bo Nix threw 16 TD in 13 starts. He carved up Bama's defense in the Iron Bowl and looked like a heisman candidate against Bama's depleted defense

Doesn't matter who Bama is playing, the opponent is going to come balls out against them. Happens every year. Doesn't matter if it's Vanderbilt or Sisters of the Poor or every SEC team they play.
So for Jones to step in and pretty much not miss a beat, be consistent, look poised, not be rattled - even against Auburn on the road - and perform well IMO speaks volumes about him and the coaches.

I was so sick of seeing Tua flop around like a fish and go to the tent 20 times a season. Bring on Mac and Nix should be fun to watch if we get to see them this yr

I suspect Daddy Tuna got a satchel full of $100’s to sign up at Maryland with Locksley. Kinda like Rev Newton got for Cam’s services. One of Locksley’s sons was shot dead in 2018 in a drug deal. His other son was jailed in 2019 on drug, weapons and DUI charges. Would you send your boy to a coach that raised sons like that??
