I called in and watched 3 die on 40 acres. Last year killed 2 on the tract. Year before 0 but 2 each year for the prior 2 years. So in 5 years there were 9 longbeards killed on this tract. We left one gobbling on the 40 this year. Maybe next year no turkeys will live there but history says otherwise.

Killing numbers of gobblers on small tracts is only sustainable if the neighboring land owners aren’t doing the same. Just like with deer

If the harvest numbers go down, that's proof that turkey populations are declining.

If the harvest numbers go up, that's proof that we are killing too many.

I have noticed that the last couple of years on aldeer there have been a lot of us saying that we had great hatches and we have a lot of turkeys right now. If we were right, wouldn't that likely lead to more success by hunters?

The turkey czar has spoken^^^

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Very simple conclusion. I am however afraid you are correct PCP. I will be surprised if we don't see a limit reduction. I don't expect a pat on the hunter's backs for more participation of Game Check.
