I never could understand what made concrete so expensive. I had some concrete poured that wasn’t but 10x3 and only 6” deep. I can’t remember what it cost but I do remember having severe sticker shock.

Dr. B You were charged a premium due to it not being a full load. All companies have what those in the business refer to as a minimum load charge and that is what got you. The price per yard of $115/yd or whatever has the trucking cost baked into the price assuming a full 9 yd load on the truck. If they only deliver a yard, then the full trucking cost is absorbed by your one yard. They still charge you the $115 for the yard of CC, but then they tack on the minimum load charge on top and your CC gets real expensive quick.

Saying it’s fixing to jump to around 140-150 that’s contractors I delivere to in n al Bullschitt. I just asked one of the major suppliers in Huntsville about this. Only issue is supplies of fly ash are dwindling, but they will just change mix design and use more cement. Funny how things work. Fly ash is a byproduct of coal fired power plants. Energy consumption is way down right now so they are producing less fly ash.

So, it's funny this came up today for me, since i have been thinking of pouring the entrance to my driveway. The wife and kids turn into the gravel drive like they're turn 4 at the local dirt track. Gonna pour it to about 20' off the road. Should i add the wire and would 4" be deep enough?
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

There’s a guy in Brooksville Fl. has a smaller mixer he pulls pulls with a truck for small jobs. You can rent that trailer with something like a yard of concrete in it to do your own small job. I been trying to get the $ together to build one more dog pen and that's what I will do. Are you in Brooksville? I live 30 min from there and my wife drives through there on her way to work every day.
