Buy a glove that fits your hand. For what you're looking at doing with it, a less expensive glove from Academy or Walmart would probably suit you fine. As far as breaking in, the best method I ever found was just to use the thing. The more baseballs you catch with it, the better it's going to feel on your hand.

You say that but my son has one that he kept conditioned with nokona conditioner. After about 3 season the palm leather tore. If I were looking for one for yard throwing I would look on marketplace for a good used one

I got my kid a custom designed glove from Rico. He loves it and is doing well with it. I think it was about half the price of an A200

My Mizuno high school gloves held up great. I use my 1st baseman's glove now almost all the time. Works great for pitching to kids cause I can hold 3-5 balls easily in it so I don't have to keep reaching for now ones. Buying a used quality glove would be better IMO than getting a cheapo one new.

Had a Nokona. When it broke in it was way too soft. My son has a Wilson A2k, Wilson A2000 and a Rawlings Gold Glove. When I bought them they were about 1/2 of what they cost today.

Get a Wilson A1000, cheaper version of the A2000 and will suffice for what your looking for. It has soft leather so it'll break in much quicker and last a long time.

We are not perfect, only forgiven!!!

Nokona's are hard as a brick and take forever to really break-in but once you do, it will last forever too. LOL

Bought my kid used Nokona gloves. Great gloves and were just getting good and broke in enough to use. I like their glove conditioner also.

Cue the dad teaching his son how to catch video.... lol.
I’ve had really good luck buying quality used gloves on eBay.
It takes forever to break in a glove.
A Rawlings 12” RBG36 or RBG 36 pro is hard to beat.
Get one on eBay for 30.00 that looks like it’s 20 years old.
I have mine from high school and I’ve bought 3-4 more for my sons. All are 20 years old or older.
The old ken Griffey jr gloves are like it.

We have 2 nakona's that we treated like a va jay jay and tried to wear out. But just like'em, you can't. Great gloves. Also found an ancient nakona catchers mitt. Sent it to nakona and they rebuilt it free. I think Nakona is the last glove company still "made in America". A2000's are great. Rawlings are great. You can't go wrong with any leather glove...just stay away from the plastic ones and you should be good!

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

An a800 is a great beginner glove. You can find them on sale for 40-50 bucks. Both mine started with them and lasted from 8-12 year old then went to the a2000
