Alright, it's that time again and mine blew out on me last week.
I really like the Twisted X hiker snake boots but don't know if i'm ready to break the bank just yet on those, also considering the lacrosse snake country boots.
I prefer a pull on versus having to fool with a mile of laces.

Whats everyone's recommendation?

for pull-ons, I had (and still have) the Lacrosse Adder Scent HD boots..........paid $150ish for them, they were comfortable and stayed waterproof for about 4 seasons. They only started leaking in a spot where I busted a stitched seam opening a 1/2" hole. prior to that, they stayed dry. I put 7 turkey seasons on them and they held up relatively well. Still have them as a backup pair.

I bought a pair of Chippewa seconds off eBay for $170 delivered. I couldn’t find a defect and they are awesome so far.

I prefer to run a lightweight hiker or trail running shoe for hunting because I spend a lot of time moving. I just pair with a set of snake gaiters. I'm currently running in a pair of Altra Lone Peak 4.5's and am really happy with them. The tread is really aggressive and gives excellent traction going up, down, and sideways on steep terrain.

Got some Danners Pronghorn for this summer. Bought on sale for about $150. So far no issues and they seem to breath better than some of the others I have had recently possibly because they have real Gore-tex in them instead of something generic that doesn't really work.

I don't care about the waterproofing as much as other maybe because I don't stand around in the water in mine. I also don't expect them to hold up for years. I wear a pair out every summer. The Chippewa's are nice but I they don't fit me well for some reason. They are probably the best for heavy use and will last longer than others.

I bought a pair of Danner sharptails a couple weeks ago. I’ve got to get them sent back off and exchanged for a half size bigger. I think I’m going to really like them though.

A good pair of Lacrosse Grange rubber boots and a good pair of gaiters. In for roughly the same price as a good pair of snake boots.

AMB, That is actually what i'm using now since the blowout. I'm wearing my Twisted X hikers and a snake guard over them. I like the idea of one piece protection if at all possible and not having to worry about the guard.

I own Danner Pronghorn lace up and the pull on Sharptail snake boots. The Sharptail's are lighter, breather better and a helluva lot easier to get on. I wear the sharptails every time I go to the farm.

Lacrosse Alpha 4X snake boots are pretty good.

Haven’t leaked yet on 3rd season. Feel like a heavier muck boot. Stomped through Texas thorns
and all Bama terrain.

I’ll buy another pair.

I bought a pair of "blemish" Chippewas that are brand new off Ebay for like $170 back in early March. I have put probably 30 miles on them this turkey season through all types of terrain and they are great boots. I have been unable to find the blemish on the boots.

. I just run a small snake guard that runs to just under my knee.

. I can understand your feelings on that. I looked at chaps years ago, but most only had the snake guard protection to the knee anyway, so I went with the guard type than goes around the lower part of the leg and clips. It also has a knee protector much like a catcher's shin guards.

Mully, are those waterproof, if not how “water resistant “ are they?
