Put #2 down this morning. His score is gonna suck but he's a bird in the hand. Full grown bird with nubs for spurs. I'll get some measurements on him in a little bit. Got to go help my buddy cut a tree down.

Congratulations fellas, I have been getting after it but just can’t seem to get In Front of one. I had been putting in the miles though it has just been rough. I’m back at again and hope to have something to show for it besides being very tired.

Good luck to everyone hunting this morning. I come in a different way on the bird I'm hunting and busted one off the roost. Hoping it was a hen and not him. Took me longer to get around and guess I got caught in clearcut with to much light. Guess we'll see. 🙏 for a close gobble!

I’m still hunting. Every day. Had one yesterday gobble once on the limb and shut it down. Swung wide and got around him and set up, thinking he would eventually gobble again and I’d have to move. He finally gobbled once on his own after he hit the ground. After that I called one time and he answered me. I sat tight through the silence and 30 mins later I heard drumming behind me. Eased my head around and he was standing in the road 20 yds off the back of my left shoulder. After not seeing the hen he slipped behind a brush pile and walked directly over the hill. No shot. Just one of those years.

Got on them again this morning. If I had noticed the log 10 yards in front of me #3 would have been down. I worked him for over two and a half hours. He was one of the best gobbling birds I've played with in a couple of years. He gobbled on his own. He gobbled at yelps, clucks, purrs it didn't matter what I did he was hammering. He just wouldn't commit. He would get 30-35 yards and just not show himself. 3 times I had him called in just to have him leave again. Every time I could hear and feel his drumming he was so close but I just couldn't get on him. Every time he would walk off, I would move a little closer and call him back. The last time he came back I just flat screwed up and rushed the shot and didn't make sure I had a good hole to shoot. He gets 5 days to calm down and I'm going back at him. I just hope I didn't educate him too much. If I did, that's ok too, it was fun.

That sounds about like my hunt turned out except my bird just vanished on me. I ended up standing almost directly under him. He gobbled just after I got done typing that message this morning. He flew out in clearcut off the roost and had to have gobbled atleast 200 times. Possibly the most I've heard a bird gobble. He'd answer any call I made. Figured it was just a waiting game at that point. He finally started heading my way. He got close enough that I could hear his rattle in his gobble and him drumming. He was just over a hill and kept looking for his head to pop up or for him to hit road and come down hill that way. Then silence....don't know where he went or what happened.

I'll be back after him in the morning so hopefully he'll want to play again!

Hope y'all are having better luck than me. Bird I've been after has jumped property line and seems to like to stay over there instead going back and forth. Stoopid bird!

Still rough going for me folks. I have pulled out all the stops and nothing is working. Still fighting but it may be a losing battle. Good luck too y'all this weekend.

#3 went down today. I've still got to post #2 to the page also. I'll get them in the next day or so. Got one more day to hunt. Hoping I can get an upgrade bird.

Well, I ended up taking a whooping, they had my number. I had 4 solid opportunities, but it’s like once I missed on the first one that just set the pace for the season. I hunted more than I have ever had opportunity to and ran into more hunters than I have ever seen in the public areas I hunt. I can’t blame anyone but myself for my mistakes and missing though. It has been Just one of those seasons that makes you feel like a clown car just rolled up and dumped you out of it. Lol. It has been a frustrating time, glad you fellas had a good season, it has been a fun ride! I’m tired and ready to sleep In past 3:40!

Sounds about like my season. I had 4 birds within gun range this year and didn’t get to pull the trigger due to the craziest crap each time. The last 4 or so years it’s been every other season for me. Great year followed by a bad year, but this year I just straight took a whoopin.
