Is it just me or is this completely blown out of proportion?
I've never seen such over-response and panic on such a scale globally ever over something that is really only truly dangerous to already ill, immune compromised or older demographics in poor health anyway.
Are there good steps that should be taken to minimize the risks, sure. Should there be some implementation of temporary stop-gap measures, fine.
Maybe I'm missing something. I read something last night that said high blood pressure put you at 6 percent mortality rate, cardiovascular problems is at 10 percent.

This is one of the first times since WWII that there has been a true global problem. So it really is a big deal. I get it's a problem. No one wants some virus around that is dangerous for anyone. The reason for my comments: As of yesterday...out of a global population of 7.8 billion, there are a confirmed 125,048 cases globally (many unreported so lets say double that to 250K), with 4613 death globally (I'd expect more that were never reported as related to Covid 19). Mortality rate of less that 4%. China accounted for 80,981 cases with 3,173 deaths of those global numbers. Obviously these numbers will rise, but it certainly doesn't seem to be at the level of H1N1 or SARS as far as adverse impact. Hopefully that will remain the case. South Korea is a great example of what the virus is doing outside of China. US State of Emergency declaration is probably not needed, but after listening to the press conference I can see the need to bypass the existing rules and constraints to free up things to get treatment and testing and other things out there much faster. This will probably serve the nation well in response to future widespread outbreaks of viruses in years to come. Anyway, I hope everyone stays safe and washes their hands and if you are sick then stay home.
