Let the beans get cold and save the broth/juice the next day to mix with the flour.

Just beans and toast, probably not. I could see making some type of a bean dip or spread in a processor that would be good on toast

White bread soft, not toast is good with Butter Beans or any white bean. Do not put the beans on the bread. Use the bread to sop up the remaining bean juice after your fork will do no more.

All other beans work best with cornbread. It may be eaten alongside the beans or crumbled into them. Either way is acceptable. There is a special exception for any beans in Chili. They get Crackers or Corn Chips. There again, with the chili or in the chili is proper. A side of Buttermilk or Sweet Tea complements almost any bean.

In Alabama all of this is taught before you start Kindergarten.

Special note: Mayo is never acceptable to be on the same table with beans. There is a certain faction of people that disagree with this statement. THEY ARE WRONG. grin

Baked beans on toast is a very common meal for the British. Just checking to see if Aldeer has any Brits.

I like Jiffy cornbread.

There was this place in Columbus (Marty’s or Cattleman’s I believe) that would bring EVERYBODY out complimentary white beans W/ham, hush puppies and onions before every meal!!!
I loved it!! If I owned a restaurant I’d have to charge for it, but that goes together FINE.

There used to be a catfish restaurant here that had pinto's, hushpuppies (good ones) and a slice of onion for about $3. Fine meal for a broke day right before payday!
