So where is the dividing line of valuing by ton vs board feet? Tennessee? Kentucky? I guess you're talking hardwood , must be somewhere around Birmingham . Up here and points North hardwood is king and it's sold by grade and board feet.

Thanks for the replies. If anyone in the business is interested in checking the property out or knows someone in the business that can give estimates please send a PM

Thanks! Holmes Hendrickson is in enterprise I believe. He just thinned my neighbors pines and my neighbor said that he got right at $1k/acre. Holmes is the guy that you would want to call

Dang, poles have dropped considerably. Thought we sold for mid 60's last fall. Class 1's though. The pine paper wood I sold last fall was $10/ton. Small tract but the logger needed a couple days work between tracts. I sold a tract of timber 3 weeks ago in Conecuh County
Price were on a ton basis
Poles- 48.50
Saw timber- 34.00
Chip n saw- 24.00
Canterwood- 14.00
Pine pulp - 11.00
Hardwood pulp- 14.00
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Those prices are strong for my area except for the poles. You couldn’t give pine pulpwood away last fall (before the rain).

Yeah the 5 month monsoon rains have caused prices to go up a lot since I cut in October. You never know what is going to happen.
