this morning. This is gonna be ugly. Where are the Geniuses that say Corona Virus is nothing ? It has spread to other Countries and now it's here. It is always best to err in caution, than it is to be stupid and open this Country to a pandemic. If you think it's no big deal because it has only attacked elderly, just wait viruses change. Anyone still think it's no big deal ?

Supply chain.

That's where the market panic is coming from. China is shutting down factories and shipping facilities. It WILL affect supply chains with regards to nearly every product imaginable.

We may be about to see just how much we depend on Chinese products.

Not an alarmist, but something to keep an eye on.

The market always has ups and downs.

The amount of time we have been spending working on risk plans associated with Coronavirus is mind numbing. Flights, shipping, sub/sub suppliers, it is crazy right now if you are in the manufacturing of electronics industry.

We have sold our souls to China for cheap labor. This is why we need to bring back manufacturing jobs to this country.

Hope it can be a wake-up call. Heard on Glenn Beck the other day that approximately 90% of antibiotics come from China. Sure it is nice to get free ones from Publix or $5 from Walmart, but our "leaders" have failed us in letting this happen....or better, we have failed ourselves by electing those who have less important focuses.

yeah, we had ordered those masks that medical persons wear. The company had moved their operation to China and now China won't allow the masks ordered to be sent. Just like AU338 said. This is going to cause a melt down and many companies that left the US could go under. No one is even going to work in China. That cheap labor has bitten them on the azz. This is Global now since it had jumped to Italy, Korea and Iran. They are confused on how it got into Italy since no one from China entered the Country(that they know of). Can anyone say BUILD THE DAMN WALL?

Corporate cash is near record levels, rates on corporate and personal debt are low, gas and energy prices are affordable and you have near record unemployment in the US. The fundamentals of the economy are strong for now. Stock sell off today is a panic driven based on three new clusters of the Coronavirus. This is hand ringing and worry about Q2 & Q3.

COVID-19: Approximately 2,250 deaths reported worldwide; 0 deaths in the U.S., as of Feb. 21, 2020.

Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year.

I would bet the death toll is at least 5x more than reported. The Chinese are downplaying it big time!

Even if they're not downplaying it, several cities and airports are shut down. That has to affect the economy worldwide.

I listened to a lady the other day who had worked in China in the medical field, she had talked to some friends still over there and she said if a person dies if they have any other illness that is what they are putting on the autopsy as cause of death. So yes they are down playing it big time!

Wonder how long before it get into a school over here in US?

Already starting to see some shortages of LED’s and other components that come from China. This virus has definitely upset the supply chain, and it likely isn’t done yet.

Connectors, most companies have the raw pins made in china, then plated and assembled elsewhere. Next will be crystals (think RF). 16 plus week growth time, it will be nasty. Another thing to watch is Samsung and Apple, buying the cap and resistor (1/4 penny parts) market as a competitive advantage to delay their competition from releasing new product.
