City elections in many towns in Alabama don't run as parties and have party primaries.

I just run freight over there perch for the past 23 years and the explosion of homes people is mind boggling

I am not doubting that the Trump economy is going gang busters, it is. But I know people who work with homeless that say numbers of homeless are also exploding. Not sure if it’s true or why, just throwing it out there...

It's exploding because they left or are getting kicked out of other cities. It's exploding in NO, because thew City is giving them tents and allowing them to camp under the elevated highway thru town. Then you have the liberals that feed they. Healthy young people that just aren't working. I wonder how many have some college.

I think it’s the good economy because they know working people have more now under Trump and they want some of it. A person that’s doing better in life is more likely to give them something.

Patton Island bridge opened the corridor for foot traffic.
Florence is a progressive city and they want to be inclusive, yada yada yada.
We see quiet a few come thru Tuscumbia, reminds me of "build it they will come" line

The homeless shelter opened drawing folks here then the city closed it due to zoning issues they said.

Greyhound bus depot and the train yard have been big places for them coming in. It was told to me at one point the bigger cities are buying them bus tickets and sending them to scattered small towns to get their numbers down.

Not sure if that is true, but i do know i see alot of them around those 2 places.

So far the cold and rain have kept them off the street where I turn left onto Governors from the Parkway. That is a money making spot and have seen two fights where one tries to invade the others honey hole.

It's the homeless network telling them where to go. They all have government phones and they get free wifi at libraries and government buildings. They know the communities with lots of church and private sector help for homeless people and they show up and take advantage of it. Hell, in Dothan someone is paying for a porta potty outside of one of the homeless camps. I see the sorry bastages walking back and forth to the likka sto all day every day. If the feel good churches would stop enabling them they would move on.

Homeless tried to establish a tent city there back in the 90's. Pretty sure they used fire hoses to remove them once. They then moved under the elevated portion of 565 around Cook ave. Salvation army, Christmas charities, and a transient hotel by krispy kreme were major draws.

Exploding cause of substance abuse. Also hard to get a job without an address. Not an excuse, just a big obstacle
