They have tried to collapse again after having a 18 point second half lead but Herbert Jones, playing, with one hand in a cast, is putting on a clinic in rebounding and hustle to keep them ahead. The kid has done it all with every excuse to fail.

Fine "W" for Bama.
How the hell LSU could let Herb rebound like that with a cast is idiotic. He was a beast.
I think Alabama will make some noise in the SEC Tournament. Might not win it but I'll bet they win a couple, at least.

I love watching guys that give great effort and Jones was that guy today. On the flip side, I went to Vandy this past Tuesday night to watch them play Kentucky and saw Kentucky freshman phenom, Nick Richards, play as lazy as any player I've seen in years. Every time the pace of the game picked up and Kentucky was making a much needed run, Richards was begging Cal to take him out and give him a breather. Vandy couldn't buy a free throw or an easy basket in the second half or Kentucky would have lost that game. It was still in doubt with 3 minutes left.

That's kind of surprising about Richards, or I guess moreso about Cal not having him (or, his trainers not having him) in running shape.
Two things I've always just taken for granted: Kentucky under Cal will run and never get tired, and Alabama under Saban won't be physically exhausted in the fourth quarter. The last couple of years I've seen a few instances of both, though. I guess nothing is certain.
Jones, Lewis and Petty are fun to watch.

The kid has done it all with every excuse to fail. Herb has been my favorite Bama player since I started watching. Dude outworks everybody. I heard some CBB talking heads saying he’s working himself into a draft pick.

Herb Jones is a beast. Totally different team when he's in the lineup. He leads by example and the other members of the team tend to hustle more when he's out there doing the same

He even hit 2 crucial free throws down the stretch with ONE hand.

I care nothing about basketball but religiously keep up with baseball and softball. Alabama softball, a perennial powerhouse, is horrific. No pitching at all. Baseball, too early to tell. So, y'all better stick with basketball. At least there's hope there. Didn't Alabama softball 1 hit the #1 team in the nation to open the season a couple days ago? I thought I saw where they beat Washington pretty easily.

They are 4-5 with a team ERA 4.17. They are playing tough teams right now but they always start out with tough teams. I don't recall them starting out with such poor pitching. Baseball, just a wait and see. I can stomach the losing a little better with good effort and never quit. That has been lacking a hopefully the new coach will correct that. It sounds like I'm wanting what y'all are saying about basketball : hard play and hope. But its Alabama basketball and baseball.

I wish Petty would contribute something besides shooting 3 pointers. They have 4 people on the floor most of the time actively participating. He looks like a middle schooler that doesn't know where to go. This would drive me nuts as a coach. Pearl said AU didn't get enough from more people Saturday in the loss to Missouri. Three players scored 59 and four others were invisible. Petty, from the little I've seen of UA, seems to come in flashes. I get that players may have a hot hand, or feel like chit now and then, or just have a day. I mean, everyone sometimes has a day when work production is just off. Or you may be having some kind of nitpicky chit with Jimmy or Karen about your lunch that got swiped from the office fridge. That's normal. But even if you're a student and have classes, you play two games a week and have structure, some of the greatest training-nutrition-travel help, and almost anything else at your disposal. Sore? Get a massage. Hungry? Go to the athletic kitchen for a snack. Need help with class? Call a tutor. Toe issue? Get a pedicure. It ain't hard. So HTF is it difficult to give 100 percent and get involved twice a week?

Hustle on the boards has been a weakness for Bama all year. Jones just had hustle today, you could tell he "wanted" it. I think too many at Bama are taking time off, and we just don't have the horses for our normal 7-man rotation to be taking time off. Goodness, we built a large lead on a great team and couldn't hold it, we had to fight back at the end, but I'll take it.
Auburn just didn't seem to have the "want to" today. Goodness, that was awful to watch, much like Kentucky most of the year. Cal does not have a rotation of players this year that are playing together hard-nose basketball, they seem to be playing "entitled" basketball.
Bruce Pearl is doing a phenomenal job again. He has to be the top candidate for coach of the year in the SEC.

Bruce Pearl is doing a phenomenal job again. He has to be the top candidate for coach of the year in the SEC. Bama has built a huge lead on most everyone they have played this year. They can play with anyone in the country they just collapse mentally several times a game and it costs them the game or makes it close which then causes Alabama to rely on free throws to win which normally equals a loss. Yesterday Geno Smith hit 4 of 4 crucial free throws and Herbert Jones hit 2 right handed with a minute to play
