Came across state line today on I-65 and man, Tennessee River was some kinda high. I don’t know what the normal level is but it was way up there!

All the gates at Guntersville are all the way open, minus the trash gate next to the powerhouse. That's 17 gates letting more than a million cubic feet of water per second roll thru. One cubic foot is 7.48 gallons. That's a lot of water per SECOND.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Just moved all the farm equipment to higher ground, can't take another flood this year.

How bad will it have to get to open the trash gate? If need be would they open a lock too?

I’m betting barge traffic will halt in next few weeks.

Crossed at at 231 today. Ditto Landing is under water along with the huge fields south of the river on both sides. I've seen Hobbs Island under water twice. This was before all the development along Pin Hook Creek and Jones Valley. Wouldn't surprise me if lots of houses get flooded plus more than a few slide down the mountainside. Just because you raise the foundation doesn't mean you still aren't in a flood zone.

Saw several on the north river side ties across from Bunge up here today. Figured they were on stoppage with the size tows they had in front of them. Steele’s bayou is not gonna be good again. Rolling Fork MS gonna take a hit again. Hate it for those farmers again

I think the trash gate was open in 1973 when we has a big flood and then in 93 or 94 seems like. To my knowledge the lock has never been open to allow flood water to flow. I'm not sure that it's even possible. We have a member that rarely posts that is a lock operator and he's clarified this for me but I can't remember what he said. I'll see if I can contact him.

I don’t know how the G’ville dam will handle all the water this week. It’s already as high as it last year. As wet as everything is, every drop of water is headed that way eek

'73 was when the Paint Rock was coming over highway 72 . It washed gravel from under the rail road bed and the tracks were suspended in air. For those of you who are familiar with the area , think about that. Could happen again this week.

If the front stalls like they're saying might happen then North Alabama down to Warrior is in trouble. I've seen rainfall predictions on the low end at 5" and high end 10". That's a lot of water that has no where to go.

They've got the river cresting on Thursday, and that's just wrong. It isn't going to stop raining until Thursday. I'd bet it crests closer to Saturday morning.

Yeah if they don't get Steele Bayou gates open soon the south delta is gonna have a repeat of last year. The whole yazoo river basin will be flooded. Corn planting chances not looking good at all.

Mickey ferguson said the flood gated at logan martin are wide open so they are really producing alot of hydroelectric power. I like that guy but I dont think he understands how the dam works.

lotta pucker-factor events happening...same weather pattern as this time last year, BUT the rivers are already at a higher level than they were this time last year!
