I have a Chinese friend, he lives there, not an american. He taught an engineering class I attended, we hit it off and we've been close for over 5 years now. I talked to him tonight and he told me that the Chinese government is now reporting 450,000 new cases today. Which he and I both know that means 900,000. It's getting bad over there. He said that he has not gone to work in 11 days due to the government has made it mandatory all businesses close, including food. No one is allowed outside their home for 14 days. He's a wealthy guy (for China) and has an amazing apartment with a balcony view of the busiest street I've ever seen. Whenever we video call I often make him show me the street because its just amazing to see that many mopeds going up and down the street. He showed me the street today (its morning over there now) and its empty, like a ghost town. I've asked him to send me a pic of the street and I'll post when I get it.
We dont often pray for people in China, probably never for some. For me, for them ask the Lord to help these helpless people. They are not our enemy, their government is, they have no choice.

Prayers for him. China has shut off any and all mass media, and even basic email between here and there is highly monitored right now. Not time for us to panic yet, but at the same time take honest precautions.

They are not mass producing hospitals without a reason.

That's not quiet true Skinny. Why ? They've never had world wide media access ever. Their government controls all incoming internet data and specifically national news. My friend is also pretty good at getting outside that government control by bouncing from server to server as some of you may understand so he sees the world outside of Chinas government BS they fill their people. He and what he calls "Chinas youth" know what the government does and is up to. The problem is, nothing they can do about it.

When I asked about the few people there on the street, he said the police would come by shortly and run them off back to their homes. He said that some people are tired of being cooped up and just go outside.

I hope that the translation was lost but his message says 450,000 new cases today. This is what the government has told them. Which he says is unheard of because they always hide information but he believes that they have no choice now but to tell the people so everyone will take this serious and understand the danger.

From what I've read the mortality rate for coronavirus is less than the flu here in the States. Is that not right?

I have a relative/family that was working at the Embassy. They were "evacuated" last week.

10k plus have died from the regular flu this year in the US so far.

Mortality rate is currently half or a little less than the spanish flu in the early 1900s. That reduced the word population by 3 to 6 percent. Flu mortality rate is way lower. Much more cases of flu worldwide though so not comparing apples to apples just yet.

I dont know the mortality rate of this virus, he doesn't either. What he's heard is that it is only killing the very young and the very old.

We can vaccinate and temper the flu, this new bug we havent figured out how to beat it back yet and get some kind of control over it yet. That is the real problem.

Last I heard nearly 400 hundred had died in China and that was yesterday.

I've actually read about high dose intravenous vitamin C for the last several years in regards to alternative cancer treatments and it has some merit, in my opinion. This is kind of interesting.

Actually they’ve used a new drug called Remdesivir plus a combination of anti-HIV drugs on the guy here in the US that was positive for the coronavirus with positive results within 48hrs of administration.
