I love the signs they put on those things "not responsible for broken windshields".
Anyway, there's 4 oz of jigheads. I've had 'em fix a few windshields before. Me too. Those signs don't mean anything.

unless you memorized the trucking company's name and dot#, lil late, but Dad had people always trying to get him to pay for their windshield after a rock got thrown up from the truck tires. as many times as I heard it, I doubt I'll ever forget it...if it fell OFF of the truck there's a claim, if it was thrown up from the road, no claim.
that's be part of the truck that went through windshields when (what sounds like) the tire blew on the 18 wheeler and NOT kicked up from the road.
glad it wasn't any worse!!
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

glad it wasn't any worse!! I'm definitely on the truckers side most of the time. The majority of accidents are not caused by the CDL holder but some moron in a 4wheeler. However, I did have to get extremely harsh with one trucking company a few years ago. The driver left a construction job with a flatbed that was littered with mud and rocks. Loose mud and rocks. He merged in lane ahead of me and I watched the rocks come flying off the trailer and two of them destroyed my windshield. Long story short, after I met the manager face to face and told him he was fixing to need 911, he agreed to replace my windshield.

Years ago a lady that Graduated with my mother (Baker High school) was killed when tire flew off a truck and came in her home. The lady had been bed ridden since she was a teen i believe...

I’m not saying I know either way but wheel weights on big trucks are almost non existent and I’ve never in 40+ years seen any on a trailer or drive tire. Most (98%) truck tires are not even balanced. 1.98% are steers balanced internally with balance bags inside the tire.
I’m guessing it came off something else and the truck/trailer tires slung it up.

However looking at the size of the weight and the clamp part that’s hammered on to the rim, it’s very large like it would have been on a thick rim. I’m not saying it came off one of those 3 trucks. I’m saying it definitely came FROM one of those trucks and it scared the chit outa me. Oh and the dog. Already talked to my insurance and the windshield will be changed when I get home next week. I just thank God that’s all that happened.

About 12 years ago I was heading south on I59 in MS following a truck pulling a trailer load of building debris. Before I knew it, 1/2 a brick fell off the trailer, hit the ground and bounced into my windshield spraying glass chunks on me. Damn near ran off the road. Thought for sure I was a goner as that brick hit the windshield directly in front of my face.
