My back and azz wouldn't last 10 minutes in that stand. The Hawk stands look great, but they are pricey. I've got several Big Game stands and they are comfy and at a good price. Bought a couple of Millineum stands after the season because they were on sale, but haven't taken them out of the box.

We have added shooting houses to most of our spots, some are even in the woods (not overlooking a green field). Many of the ladders we used to use were moved to the fields and put in a place that works for a south wind. Our houses are setup for the predominate wind, north or north west.

A few things we have done to the ladders is we have attached black weed cloth (like from Lowe's) to the sides. It can be spray painted if you want but it helps to hide any movements you might make. We have also fashioned roofs for them using 1/2" metal conduit and bending it. The conduit rests on the expanded metal floor and is attached to the side tubing with screw clamps (radiator style). Then a plywood roof is put on top. We also attach some more screen to the roof section (that we can see through) and we are pretty well hidden.

The way we do the roof is to bend the conduit, put the plywood on top and drill a small hole through the conduit and plywood. Then push a small bolts down through the plywood and into the conduit. Place these bolts out towards the outside edge so if you stand up you dont stick a bolt into your skull. We then push the plywood up and put a nut on each of the bolts to hold them in place. Then we tar paper and shingle the plywood. After we get stand setup where we want it we put the conduit up and then carry up the roof and lower the bolts into the pre-drilled holes in the conduit and add another set of nuts.

This makes sitting in a ladder more comfortable and we are a little more hidden. And only for a few bucks and some time...

This past season got me thinking more about a roof for every stand.
I think it rained more days than it didn't.

Roofs are great for a slow steady rain but blowing rains, not so much. I used to have a roof on a stand butit cost me a good buck when I couldn't get off a good shot at a buck chasing a doe because the pieces holding the roof up kept getting in the way.

I like platforms and popup blinds. Then you can use comfortable chairs and sit 4hrs comfortably.

Not a problem. You can find me in my recliner on those days.

Hawk Denali wins on comfort. Family Traditions wins overall quality plus comfort.

The family tradition is probably the best ladder stand I ever used.
Wish I could afford a bunch of them. Not even sure where to get them anymore.
But you can't beat it for durability and comfort.

I've sat in a family tradition ladderstand with a 360 degree swivel seat. Best stand I've ever hunted out of. They are pricey.

The family tradition stands are built like a tank and solid as a rock.

I bought some seats similar to these for my ladder stands:

I've known Jimmy for over 35 years. We bear hunted and hog hunted together years ago. No better person to do business with. No better stands hands down.

Those Millenium seats are really comfortable. I nodded off a minute it was so comfortable. Just very expensive. Not sure how long that fabric seat will last but it’s definitely comfortable.
