Damn card scammers got us for $1300 last night in New York. If I could get my hands on these sorry sobs I’d break them bone by bone. We don’t use our cards for gas but on rare occasions so not sure how the bastards got us this time.

A friend got hit years from florida. He aint been to florida in years he said. Local cops said its what they do. They steal your info when you pay here in town. Then they sell or trade your info with out of state thieves. That way they dont get busted. To bust the thief, my friend would have to travel to Florida to prosecute them the cop said. If its not a felony amount they stole. The law prosecutes felonies wether you press charges or not i think. So it was gonna cost my friend 1k or more to go sit in florida over a $300 debit card theft. This was 7yrs ago. Might be different now i dont know. He had his info stolen from the huntsville redlobsta location he said. The restaraunts have time to copy your info numbers while your not beside them i guess.

I hate the card companies and the Banks more than the thieves. Couple years ago someone broke into my wife’s
Car and stole her purse. We IMMEDIATELY called the Bank and closed every thing down. Also called and shut down
all our credit cards. For two weeks they stole everything we had in checking acc., savings acc., and maxed out all our cards.
We got everything back EVENTUALLY. The bank acted they didn’t give a shucks. In fact they recommended we change banks.
A couple years later a Mexican in Atlanta charged 15k worth of charcoal at Home Depot. WTF!!!

I hate it and hope you get your money back

If you are disciplined figure out what you like to do and go get a credit card that rewards points/dollars towards it (hotels, flying, etc) or a cash back CC. Put everything on the card and pay it off every month, if a thief hits the card its not your money they are taking its the credit card issuer (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and its on them to get their money back. Most CC companies nowadays have extremely good fraud services that catch this type of stuff before they approve the transaction. It still happens though but its their money they are taking not your hard earned $$$.

Just have to be disciplined enough to pay it off every month.

All I've been required to do is sign an affidavit at the bank, then they replace the funds.
Obviously they cancel the card(s) and it takes a few days to get new one.

Words I never thought I'd say... Out back is correct, shouldn't require a police report in most circumstances. Our policy at work is no police report unless you 1.) Had the ability to prevent the fraud from happening (lost card and didn't cancel it, etc.) 2.) Tell us you know who the fraudster is or 3.) PIN Transactions over a certain monetary limit.

My credit union had me do a affidavit, police report and cancel card. We had the money back in 3 business days.

If it was a debit card, we've had that discussion here a dozen times. DO NOT USE DEBIT CARDS, use credit cards and its issuers problem

Haven’t had a cc in years and never will again. Our credit union actually notified us this morning and said once everything is cleared it will be put back.

Credit card companies are easy to deal with when your info is stolen and used...

If you use a debit card you can set your notifications on their app on your phone. Mine notified me that I had bought$75 dollars at a gas station in NJ. I shut it down immediately. Got my money back too
