Great movie, one of those you gotta watch just about every time it comes on. And who doesn’t love Javier Bardem’s suppressed 12ga?

No Country for Old Men is 3/4 of as good a movie as you could every want to see. But it's almost completely ruined by the dumbest ending in the history of cinema. It's like somewhere around the hour and 40 minute mark someone looked at their watch and said, "Oh s#*t is that the time" CUT, CUT, CUT! Just dog this off and end the movie". "To hell with showing the climax of the film just wrap this s#*t up!!!"

I get the ending. The dude was a insane meansonofabitch killer. But yet wasn’t bad enough to avoid a car crash. But was bad and crazy enough to walk away with broken bones sticking out of his body.

But was bad and crazy enough to walk away with broken bones sticking out of his body. that part makes me laugh everytime, "Hey mister, you got a bone sticking out your arm" Look at that gdamn bone" I was like yall and didnt understand the ending, after the third time i watched it, it made sense. The movie is more about the guys struggle with whats going, not really about the drug deal. The seen at the end was him trying to make sense of everything and trying to rationalize it. The duality of man sort of thing. At the end of his career, he was trying to make sense of it all, his brother helped him realize that things havent really changed all that much, even though it seemed too. 2 thumbs up for pitbull attack dogs and a badazz killer. I wish they would do a movie on Shugern.

Yeah I’ve watched it a bunch of times and still lost on the ending The real ending is mainly about Tommy Lee Jones. Having been faced with a challenge he couldn't match (Bardem) and having made a promise he couldn't keep (to Moss' wife), TLJ is terribly discouraged and retires. His mentor in the movie (Corbin) basically tells him that there's always been times when evil couldn't be stopped by the efforts of one man - and that TLJ is vain because he believed HE could stop it all. Having "gone out a loser", TLJ is troubled and has two dreams which help to explain things. The first represents his lingering guilt from not being able to save Moss/recover the money - he failed again with "his responsibility". The second dream represents TLJ's desire to bring a "simpler time" (i.e. when evil/good wasn't as hard to define and "good guys" prevailed) into the future. However, that "fire" was never going to be lit and in reality it likely NEVER was as simple as TLJ imagined it was.

This^^^^ Evil persists and survives because it is...evil. Persists, at least, for now in this world. Plus, what Bamarich said up yonder, that was some good stuff, too. Javier is like a light comedy actor, but he sure put the chill in me with this character!! Man!

And it is cool country out there. I killed a 34" Barbary Sheep on the ranch where Tommy Lee Jones stayed while filming the movie. That country is depressing as heck! I spend a few weeks a year out there and the cool factor wears off after about a 100 miles of driving and not passing a single tree. Nothing but oil donkeys, flares and mesquite.
