I don’t think the population is that dense necessarily. Most of that land is wide open pasture or row crop. Not a lot of cover. Now, if the particular piece of property HAS cover the population should be good. The genetics in that area are good though so your chance to take a nice buck is above average.

I guess i could clarify. South of Uniontown, between it and Safford, but closer to Uniontown, but in the more timbered areas

Yeah, we got some tracts there - better than average for sure. Not what it once was, however.

I’m sure it’s some of the best deer in the state, if I had to guess.

Depends on the specific location. If it’s timberland then it should have a good population of deer..

No kidding, some of the biggest deer I’ve seen were killed between Bogue Chitto and Westbrook. Fine area.

There are about a dozen high fence operations in Safford these days.

I don’t get that, that area has the soil and genetics to grow giants without the aid of a fence. I have a good friend who has some land there. It use to be farmed but once farming died out he let it go to overgrown pasture land. Hardly any trees beside giant cedars. That overgrown pasture land/ natural regrowth is thick and the deer love it. There’s bunch of deer on his place.

I'm about 6 miles east of Uniontown. Good population with a lot of nice deer.

Since you live in Huntsville now I bet we have the same friend. I have hunted on that farm a time or two.
