What are you guys favorite picks for hunting boots? I’ve always worn rubber boots but I’m wanting to switch to a lace up this year. Really leaning towards some sort of lightweight waterproof hiker with gaiters. I don’t know if I want to go with a mid tier brand like Danner, Irish Setter, or Keen, OR bite the bullet for a really good quality long term boot like a Crispi or Kenetrek.

I went to crispi valdres after seeing a recommendation by Dave Owens. I’ve prob only put 8-10 miles on them so far but they are by far the most comfortable boots I’ve owned. If they stay waterproof, I don’t see me going back to rubber. I also bought some kennetrek gaiters.

I love my Kenetrek Mountain Extreme NI boots. I've had them for about 5 years and still going strong.
I've got a pair of the Vapr trex(second pair, actually) and they leak just like the other pair I had to send back. Definitely, wouldn't buy those again for the terrain I hunt.

I just picked up a pair of VaprTreks (the knee high ones) on sale for $150. I wanted a lace up snake boot because I wanted more ankle support than my pull-ons offered. They're light and comfortable so far. Only negative I've ever really seen about them is they will eventually leak, but most low/mid-level non-rubber ones will. That's just part of it at that price range. I was more concerned with something that would give me the ankle support for hilly terrain without being super heavy....they seem to fit the bill.

I’ve went through a ton of boots in the past 10-15 years from almost every brand with absolutely zero success in finding a non rubber boot that was comfortable AND waterproof. I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair of Crispi Nevada’s last year and they are by far the most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned. Right out of the box with no break in period. They never leaked a drop in 25+ days in the field from Florida to Washington state. They are definitely worth every penny!!!!

Dave is the reason I started looking towards Crispi as well. You guys that are using Crispi, do they run pretty true to size?

I've used these for the last couple seasons and I have no complaints at all. Haven't really went through water deeper than ankle deep, so I can't say anything about the waterproofing. They are super comfortable. Only downside is that they are a little on the warm side. Hope I never have to find out if the turtle skin will really stop a snake's fangs.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

I went to crispi last season as well and I really like them for the hill climbing I often do
