Looking into feeding something besides corn and came across the attached at the local coop. At first glance i thought it was a typical sweet feed but after laying hands on it I believe it to be a bit more. Even see some cotton seed in it that seems to be a popular feed on some Texas ranches. Your thoughts?

Cotton seed mill is very high in protein and a lot of folks in Texas feed it in the growing season. They feed corn during the season then get on to feeding that and protein pellets. Most people on those feeding programs have some big deer. Most people not all but after hunting season don’t care nothing about the feeding in the growing season

I’ve heard sweet feed can be bad for deer. Not sure if it’s what your talking about feeding though.

It’s winter. Deer need carbs. Corn is carbs.

Mainly looking to see what feed is available for when it's time to transition into the antler growing season. My other alternative that is readily available is Antler Max but really didn't want to get into high protein feeding due to cost. Thought this might be a an option as it's cheap enough that it wouldn't have to be rationed and should have enough nutrients to help. Im sure it's not the caliber feed the high protein is but it's much more affordable.

Just thinking there has to be an alternative feed some are using that's may not be marketed as "deer feed"...

Bought a used 10 ton grain bin from a catfish farmer several years ago and have corn gluten soyhull 50/50 mix delivered from southern feed and seed for around $220 a ton a few times a year. Looks like the stuff in your pics, but you better not let it get the slightest bit damp. Have fifty five gallon buckets on a old 6x12 trailer, pull under the chute and load up in around 20 minutes.

Double D feeders by Wilderness Calls out of Georgia. Bin style gravity feeder with no tubes to clog up using this type of feed and its pretty much coon proof.

I’ve seen where people in Texas feed deer with bales or piles of cotton seed, would that work here?

Probably. I was on a place that the deer were eating the cotton plants. They're goats and eat anything. I wouldnt ne surprised if there was a photo of one standing on top of a car.

It be's that way sometimes.

For those of you who mentioned the cull dry peanuts, where are you getting these and how much do they cost?

I get them from pen tons farm supply in Allentown, Florida. They are 8.80 for a huge bag. Allentown is about 25 miles south of Brewton.

Peanut delivery points have them in the fall, you just need to stop and talk to them.
