I think what he is getting at is this. You go to the Talladega National forest and somehow luck up and kill a freak 190” 30 point deer. You will never convince some people that you didn’t pay money to kill the deer in a fence. You can say that wouldn’t bother you but it would bother the heck out of me.
I have killed critters, including whitetail, in and out of high fence, both sneaky close and at long distances. Personally, I share where I killed the critter, and could not possibly care less what someone else thinks. If someone thinks one of my good "free range" bucks came from a high fence and I know different, why should their opinion impact me? The reality is, there is less and less true wilderness, and damn near none East of the Mississippi. The idea that anyone could kill a deer in the Southeast that had no human contact and no restrictions on their movement is ludicrous. A lot of interstate highways now have "high fence" along them to keep deer off the road. Would you be "bothered" if you killed a big mature swamp buck 1/4 mile away from the interstate? He couldn't cross the highway, so does that lessen your enjoyment? 1200 acres is roughly a mile wide and 2 miles deep. You can't see the other side of that in most places.

Obviously the size of the mature bucks is far smaller Key phrase in your post. Why? They are still considered trophys to those that hunt them.

I wouldn't give a dime for a genetically engineered domestic deer.
Agree Same here. Because its completely fake. I dont want a fake deer locked up in a cage cause that's exactly what they are. Anyone can breed a fake deer and hang it on their wall. Its like my german shepherd. He is the perfect dog but he better be. He was bred to be that way and if he doesn't satisfy me, i will junk him and go buy another one. Merchandise bucks.

What about the folks who don't introduce new genetics? One of the best high fence places I ever hunted on put up the fence and didn't introduce any other deer. They say it gives them control over what gets shot, and keeps other deer off their place. It's about 2800 acres.
