I have been looking online and noticed there is TVA Land on Hobbs Island road in Huntsville near my house. I have looked online but I never have public land hunted as I have family land I hunt in Tennessee mostly. How do you find out if those areas are Bow only or do they follow state regulations? How can I make sure it’s huntable land? I have OnX and it appears huntable, I drove to it the other day and did see a vehicle there. Just wanted to find out how to get more Info. Thanks for any information. Figured if it’s Huntable and a 5 minute drive it’s worth looking into.

I'm pretty sure (which means nothing, so find an official answer) that it is the norma regulations as far as rifle/doe days. I have small game hunted over there before and ran into what I assume were some locals and it made me not want to go back. Hope you have better luck than me! I know plenty of people hunt over there, though.

You have to have a TVA permit and it goes by the state open permit public land rules, except for land by Guntersville dam which is bow only.

Never seen any thing ever about a TVA permit. Is that new? Has never been required before.

Yea the sign on some TVA land here by the house says something about a permit needed and has a phone number on it to call for said permit.

It is open permit land..just like natfo..property..but the only permit you need is a state hunting liscense. Also, i know of very few bow only propertys and it is posted very well along its acess boundries. There are probly more, but i havent been to it all. Typical op land state regs..buck only accept for about a week in december which is this saturday i believe..somebody correct if im wrong. Also its either sex with a bow.

Take a picture, if one is convinient..id like to see it. Ive hunted tva my whole life and consider myself to be well versed in the laws..id like to know if its a specific piece or not. Pm me if you like

10-4. If you're going down the mtn the little tva sign is nailed to a blown over/ broken tree on the right hand side of the road. I think there may be a sign two on the left after you turn off of 431 onto Conttonville. The signs are about 4 inches square.
