Sometimes I will have my back straps cut into jerky slices to make jerky out of it.

We eat lots of burger at our house (tacos, spaghetti, chili, soups, lasagna, etc.) and we never buy beef burger unless we are having burgers.

Those of you that say deer backstrap is better than steak should go kill yourself. You have clearly never had a good steak if you truly believe that.

Look, there’s a reason they mix beef fat in ground deers. Always still like a hockey puck to ol cm. But as posters have said above, if you are trying to tell me a deer tenderloin that is tricked up with cheese is better than a prime steak, you ain’t being honest

I normally keep the backstrap and donate the rest to the needy. I gave a deer to a needy family last week and their thanks were so genuine it made my week>

I grind about 25% Smoked Hog Jowls with the cuts I'm going to make patty Sausage out of....Got my Seasoning down to a Science. Usually make BIG Patties out of it and grill it....it is very moist and juicy. BUT....I usually get the Innerds out of the Deer within 30 minutes and get it Cooled down Quickly. Shoot Does mostly these days....Neck Shot if at all possible.

I cut mine up into roast and stew meat. 45 mins in the instant pot with some potatoes and onions is a fine Sunday afternoon meal with homemade biscuits. I did get a few done at Shana's ground into burgers. I got 1 in bacon burger, 1 in Conecuh sausage burgers and 1 in jalapeno and cheddar and I have to kill about 10 more so I try more from her menu. That's some fine eatin.

Dude I will make you some venison poppers that will change your mind! Use cubed venison stuffed with jalapeno and cream cheese wrapped in bacon and marinated in dales grilled to perfection. It will make a dog break a chain!

^^^^ I'm 100% on this!!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Try to marinate them in zesty Italian dressing instead of the salty vinegar juice. (Aka Dale’s)

Good but still not a steak.

I love deer meat. I'd eat it a whole lot more if I killed more. My wife also enjoys it. We make lots of different dishes, make all sorts of sausages, and also just eat it as steaks. It's really good.

....it isn't better than a really good steak, though.

However, I enjoy eating deer for different reasons than good steak.

It's nice to find things we can all agree on, right fellas??

We had sausage made in Bogalusa that was killer!!! Between the hunting buddies, we prolly sent 5 or 6 deer a year.
