central ala,
My step son has a way he catches them in a live trap then carries them off and turns them out. He's never been sprayed and has caught a bunch of them under people's houses.

Yep...not uncommon at all to see several little spotted skunks dead in the road this time of year!

They don't smell bad to me, but they do sometimes smell strong!...my brain just catalogues the smell as a "skunk" and I ignore it after that.

Saw plenty upper part of Tuscaloosa County off of Hwy 69. Like the one our lab chased down and grabbed in the back and shook like a rag doll. I swear for 2 or 3 months afterwards every time she got wet it was like the smell was reactivated.

We got a baby skunk many years ago and kept it like a pet. It was a lot like a cat, loved crickets and tuna fish.

The faint smell of skunk reminds me of strong coffee. Now, being up close to one that's let go of all his stank will make your eyes water, nose run, drool, etc. At least it does me. It's overwhelming like being hit with smelling salts.

We've had a few around our house recently, haven't seen them but I can smell them every so often at night when I step outside.

I got one in the backyard, he charged me and I shot at him twice with a 22 revolver, that stopped his charge but he was back the next week.
