Zealously, Joshua worked at a fast food restaurant during high school in Enterprise, Alabama and also found time to excel on campus. He joined the school's JROTC program where he became captain of the rifle team.

He realized his dream of military service when the US Naval Academy accepted him. His dad fondly remembers going to Zaxby's restaurant to tell Joshua when the acceptance letter arrived.

In Annapolis, he also captained the Academy's Rifle team and graduated in May 2019 with his degree in mechanical engineering and his commission,” Benjamin Watson said.

Joshua's most significant military achievement—and there would surely have been many more had he not died---is when the Navy chose him for its pilot training program. He reported to Pensacola NAS only two weeks ago.

With him now stationed only two hours from Enterprise, his parents relished the idea of spending more time with their son.

The last time they would see him was Thanksgiving weekend. He and his dad watched their favorite team, Auburn, win the Iron Bowl. Before he returned to Pensacola, Joshua went with his family to pick out a Christmas tree and helped decorate it.

I can't imagine the hurt is family is feeling now. But just reading this makes me madder than hell! How does the federal government explain to a family that their child has died while serving, when working at a military base in the USA, that is suppose to be protected from foreign enemies. When is this going to stop!

I don't understand how one of the most formidable "armies" in the world has to rely on outside assistance in an armed shooter situation. I go on Kennedy Air Force Base quite often and they have guards out there that would give the Rangers or Seals a heck of a fight. They aren't no joke. I'm glad the Escambia Sheriff's office is near and they responded so quickly, but that's just unimaginable. I doubt it would have happened if there were guards or the soldiers on watch were armed. My son does watch and was scheduled to be at the naval museum, and his roommate had watch at this building during the event. She was just one or two floors up from the shooting. They are armed with nothing more than a ball point pen. The only times I've been through the gate with an officer, the guards see their uniform and glance at their ID, salute them and waive them through. You could get any weapons you wanted in there with a military ID.

not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

Foreign Nationals should not be able to LEGALLY buy firearms in the US under ANY circumstances. I don't give a phuck what country they are from nor the strength of the US allegiance with that country. ZERO tolerance on this.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

^^ agree.

But I was under the impression that only citizens and people who had Permanent Resident status could buy a firearm.

The Saudis were just here on student visas and therefore would not be legally allowed to buy a firearm.

That has always been my understanding.

Yes I don’t think permanent residents should be allowed to purchase firearms
