Last year I bought one of those Ozark trail insulated cups, a 6 pack of coke in glass bottles and 6 miniatures ( 2 Crown, 1 crown black, 1 makers mark and 2 Smirnoff) wanting to do something different this year. Also considering doing a gag gift.

We play with my wife’s family. Nobody except me drinks bourbon. I buy whatever I’m in the mood for at the time, and when it’s my turn I either pick my gift or I steal it if someone has already gotten it. Since nobody else drinks it, I wind up with it. Been doing this for the last 3 years.

Scratch off Lotto tickets are always a hit. Get 5 $5 tickets and only the last person gets to scratch. Could be nothing or $100k.

this is a good idea but man. could you imagine if whoever got it actually hit 100k? id have to put a stipulation on the prize that I get half if the amount is more than $1000 after taxes.

I always do a decent bottle of liquor. Like Tbest3, I pick something I would be happy to take home. My wife's uncle does the same, and if we want to after the game is over, we will occasionally swap.

I don’t think we are playing dirty Santa to celebrate the birth of Christ. I think it’s more about getting together with friends and family to have fun and spend time together. Also it’s not “stealing” it’s a game with a set of rules that’s based on luck of the draw. If you are playing with people who get mad over a game you need to find new friends or just not invite those people.
