Not anti hunters but non hunters. My wife, mother and father don't hunt but support hunting and hunters. But they ain't gonna support shooting spotted fawns. May not matter what the non hunters think.

If your goal is population reduction, like ours was at one time, the biologists preferred us to shoot the young ones. The younger the better according to them, but they emphasized that it is illegal for them to have spots (wink, wink). The thinking behind this is that a fawn over their life, will produce more babies and eat more food than a grown one. I still couldn't and can't make myself shoot something with spots.

If it is legal now and you want some venison veal, go ahead. I just wouldn't advise posting the pictures of your trophy on Facebook, but there will be a fool out there somewhere that will do it. Another problem would be the cleaning. I don't think we have a Gambrel small enough to hang a spotted fawn and I sure wouldn't pay a processor for 5 lbs of meat..

Why did Disney stop showing bambi on tv? Cause it is anti-abortion.

I think our culture says that shooting a fawn is morally wrong and it will be rare that somebody does it. We really should not shoot does at all either, cause its too easy with bait being legal and such.

But of-course I have no problem shooting a 20lb piglet through the ear. I will cook that thing in a pot with a big smile on my face from the trigger to the dinner.

Truth be told our culture is getting to the point where people think animals have feelings, personalities, emotions and everything else a human does and couldn’t stomach killing one to eat if their life depended on it. We are at the stage where it is ok to eat it if somebody else kills it, but the day is coming.

I agree Fuzzy Bunny, they wont eat it unless it looks store bought. To keep my wife happy I usually just wrap some plastic wrap around the squirrel head before I bring it in the house.

Personally I have no interest in killing any little deer with or without spots but theres no difference.

Proper deer management calls for all age classes to be harvested. I’d go easy on the freckled fur babies though. We just know what works for us
