After watching the Egg Bowl yesterday, it seems like there’s more fake injuries than ever. If a fella is hurt enough to stop the game, he’s hurt enough to sit out at least a few minutes while he recovers. It seems like a no- brainer to make him sit out 2 minutes or something. Any downsides to that?

I agree. It’s gotten a little ridiculous here lately seems like.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the NCAA doesn’t start having a doctor at each game to also examine the player so that they can decide if the injury was significant enough to stop play. If it wasn’t than the team would be penalized either by yardage or financially on the coaches and universities.

I think that’s fine, but that’s still a judgement that even a doctor can’t make. “My leg hurts really bad”. How do you disprove that?

A 2 minute bench time removes any judgement. If it’s a real injury, 2 minutes isn’t important because you’re really hurt. And if you’re doing it to stop the clock, you just lost a starter for 2 minutes.

If a guy says he's hurt, you'd never find a doctor that will say he isn't. They would always err on the side of caution as do the coaches, referees, and trainers. Sitting out the rest of the series or a prescribed number of plays would work the best.

Something needs to be done but not sure if player sitting out will help...they might just stick a sucky guy n n tell him to lay down after this next play

Part of the game. Imagine a wellfunded program putting a mma athlete to arm or leglock another teams starting tackle or back. Ridiculous? Sure but if you knew 100% the opposing player would be out the rest of the game it would happen. Remember Lombardi's words "Winning is important otherwise they wouldn't keep score."

The fake injury always happens after big unexpected plays when the D is gassed. There’s no way you could plan for that. If you’re trying to win a game, you’ve got your best guys in.

Negative...wide outs at times don't matter much depending on play or what side of field it's on

Wide outs aren't the ones faking injuries. You're on the wrong side of the ball

Yep. Normally the guy in orange and blue in the middle of th defense who looks at the sideline before he is knocked off his feet in pain
